Lysistrata

If all womanhood swore to withhold, I guarantee we'd live in a peaceful world today. (wink and happy )
.
powerful men are afraid that knowledge might somehow escape and come to be common knowledge. Thus, they would lose their position of authority.
.
Women allow men to THINK they have authority. It's another manipulation tactic - one of many. Behind every powerful man is an even more powerful woman. (Ask Barbara Bush. But don't expect her to divulge her/our secrets.) happy

I made a mistake in my prior post where I wrote, The only think I can PROVE about the idea is that it exists and that I THINK it is a worthy subject for discussion. (Bold emphasis points out the error.)
.
I meant for it to read, The only thing I can PROVE about the idea is that it exists and that I THINK it is a worthy subject for discussion.
.
I also think that women are as much the victim of this knowledge that is hidden from them as are the men and it can be said the other way around.

Stepping aside from theology and just looking at this statement, I find this to be very true. I've met a lot of pretty conservative, fundamentalist families in my time. And men who make it clear that they are the "head of the home." But, I'm also a pretty thorough observer of people - and, in most of those cases, they ain't. happy

There's a funny saying: Men may be the head, but women are the neck. Lots of truth to that in many families.

You mention Barbara Bush. I bet Laura isn't a doormat. She's quiet in public, but I doubt George messes with her. happy

She seems to have her hands full trying to keep him in tow. I suppose that's true of a lot of macho dudes down there in the lone star state.

Heh heh... she knows all his secrets, and can 'leak' them.
.
But Laura's a piker compared to Barbara. Barbara's had TWO presidents and a governor come from her family. And you can bet Barbara hand-picked Georgie's wife for him. Laura must genuflect to Barbara. Trust me.

Ya never know, Pink. Always gotta watch those quiet prim and proper southern women standing in their man's shadow. They didn't get there by being stupid.

I do.

You're correct.

But, what is their purpose other than to be self serving?

No, don't know any of them. I don't hang with politicians anymore.
.
Isn't it required that one be self-serving in order to be in politics? Or married to one who is? I think so.
