As I recall, not to prolong this discussion; but, more for clarification, I think it was Migisi who decided to give you a go as a result of her shins being bruised. That is, to paraphrase the situation.

No fault finding intended; just clarification regarding perceptions.

It's hard, sometimes, to put ourselves in someone else's moccasins.

If anyone wants to study the events and people surrounding the Councils and the Creed, I found this site fascinating. Brew a pot of coffee. It's ~long~, but a worthy read. It includes various documents from the era written by bishops and others.

I started reading it. Quite interesting and enlightening.
.
I will try to complete it in the next several of sessions at the computer. It's more than sixty pages long. I expect you have already read it? Does that mean you are prepared to use it as a source in this thread?
.
Already, questions have come to the surface.

Yeah, it's long and too much to absorb in one sitting for me. I did read a lot of it, but not all the letters and documents.
.
Does that mean you are prepared to use it as a source in this thread?
.
Maybe. I posted the link for anyone who was interested in a deeper and more detailed study. I've been searching other material as well - just for my own learning. More found in the Catholic encyclopedia (Newadvent), but naturally, much of it is biased in favor of the RC church and its dogma.
.
I've got a gathering here this weekend, and lots to do, so I gotta go for now. I'll be back. That'll give you (and me) more time to read the material and we can chat on it if you want.
.
Be good to each other.

I've always enjoyed the "The Wisdom of Sirach". That book isn't in the Protestant Bible, is it.
.
If I was still a Christian, I could've been considered an Arianist.

It is interesting how serious thinking off the main line was taken in those dayes. And, in how harshly the "heretic" was dealt. I see that in the way main liners react to any deviation from their rules of belief here in these threads.
.
The fact of excommunication is alive and well. Or is that sick?

But, I don't care. It's not a problem for me.

However, I do see it as a problem for anyone who has ideas that stray from the mainline who doesn't have the strength to stand against overwhelming opinion of those who express Absolute Truth. There are some real "killers" here.

In response to Am I On A Kick? Or What? posted by pink101:

The biblical/evangelical understanding of "excommunication" is expelling someone from church membership due to misconduct (polygamy, adultery, child abuse, etc.). Catholics, of course, have elevated the concept to new heights.
