» redback - Fair dinkum!

In response to Fair dinkum! posted by _Boanerges_:

"how do we deconstruct what can't be visibly detected?
A good point!...."

I was only suggesting aiming for a simple phrase to identify this point...to add to the 10.

BTW, Aussies can call someone an SOB as an insult & also in a friendly way. But I'm wary of the French manner in their homeland.

Maybe I should see if there is any interest in deconstructing 'Australia' or 'fair dinkum'. But as your Homeland Security was interested in checking out the 'fair dinkum' complaint, I don't want them trawling this site...at least for...me. happy

The better inclusive process is surely to first explain how Aussies can avoid being arrested in similar circumstances by our dominant partner. Deconstructing seems a way to form a committee to ensure the USA never gives a clear answer. happy

Ceased or never existed? I agree, Migisi. The way my brain operates, tis how I seek answers so I struggle with Pink's approach. As I see it, there are certain claimed theoretical elements to Christianity and the 10 points aim to identify them. That's only the brainstorming phase and I'm not proceeding beyond it.

Pink stated elsewhere he woke one morning and wondered what the day had in store re deconstruction or postmodernism. Probably TIC. Me, I never wake each day wondering what the USA has in store for me. (Sorry, Pink...according to RBANS, I have a minor problem with 'Delayed Memory' on unimportant things. happy )

I'd just as soon be back there with you; but, I got NO support for ANY brainstorming on the subjects. Maybe the problem has to do with the possibility that those who give themselves authority to speak on behalf of God really don't have a good grasp on what Christianity is? Do you think?

Are you saying that you would like to do a little brainstorming here, Jeff?

Lay something on us. I'll go with you.

You seem to be mostly like an American to me

What do your fellow Ozzies have to say about you?

Did we arrive at a concensus about the points? Even if we didn't, we could discuss why a point is or isn't valid.
.
How about brainstorming on those - point by point. I thought that's what this thread was about.

I think the temperature was rising too fast for some who don't really want to face up to what it is that they believe.

It's more fun to be one of the insiders who are living in God's grace. The rest of us can go to, well, you get the picture.

From personal experience, it indeed can be very uncomfortable to dissect our beliefs - fearing we'll discover there are flaws and contradictions in them. That causes inner conflict - and that most people try to avoid at all costs.

Christianity is not a sandbox where people get to define it as part of a brainstorming exercise. It's unfair for you to accuse me or anyone else of not wanting to "face" what we believe, simply because we're not comfortable with or agreeable with some list that was cobbled together in an Internet forum.

You know, examining the tenets -point by point - of Christianity ~could~ be a learning experience for some here. You could make up your own list for discussion here.

but.. The apolgetic Christian has taken the time to rebuke the claim that Christianity contradicts itself. Its an old claim that actually has no merit, and can be easily tossed aside as rhetoric and propaganda..... Following is a link to my personal site, where to, I've spent considerable time going over [their] endless babble.... Actually, I have not loaded all my responses.. Anyone who desires is invited to send a simple email asking a question..... I have about another 50 answered claims of contradiction - but find it a complete waste of time answering, let alone responding to the endless babble. I figured the first 100 claims would be sufficient to show cause that their claims are in fact - false.... even outright lies.. (those crafty intellectuals.. just bore them with endless babble - so they think anyway)
