I wasn't there; but, I received an email from someone who was at midnight. The line had been forming since six P.M. when numbers were passed out to all with reserved copies.
.
People were lined up at our local Barnes and Noble store so much so at midnight that the parking lot out front of the mall was jambed with traffic. The line was a good two foot ball fields in length.
.
Adults and children were there in every sort of costume and many had lightening bolts painted on their foreheads.
.
So, I can imagine that Migisi has some stories to tell us regarding her experience.
.
How many sermons will be given about this event come Sunday morning?
.

Well, I am wondering what your sermon might be about Harry Potter. The books and movies have certainly raised some interest in the youth in the Occult. And the books have also probably had some good benefit, since they are well written and they give rise to lots of imaginative thought. There I have done it and given the books a proper critique.

i am the Lord's oldtimer.

.
In response to both of you, I guess that if I were a preacher, I would work up some sort of a sermon on this phenomenon. I think it's THAT important and I know it bears some relationship to a religionist view of reality.
.
But, it would take some time as I haven't read any of the books. I have seen some of the movies.
.
From what I've seen, there is some similarity to the Tales of Narnia.
.
But, there is something deep in society that provides a pathway for the Harry Potter series and the concept.
.
In true post-modern fashion, I would have to develop a great deal of knowledge on the subject in order to produce a worthwhile sermon. That would take a lot of study.
.
Maybe someone here has enough knowledge about the Harry Potter series to address the subject?
.

Well heck, I know a lot about it, having seen the movies and read one of the books. What kind of questions would you like to ask? Ask away, I'm ready to expound on the subject of Harry Potter. You mention the movie and books of C.S. Lewis. Have you read any of them or seen the movie? It sounds like you may be just going off the movie previews and up to your old tricks again.

i am just an oldtimer for the Lord.

Can you discuss a subject without taking pot shots at others?
.
That would be nice.
.
I watched at least one and maybe two of the movies. I was not engrossed in them; but, I watched them thinking they were about children that wanted to gain control over their experiences in life.
.
I listened to several cd's of the Tales of Narnia.
.
There is a sense of magic control in both of the series.
.
What can you tell us about that relationship?
.

» pink101 - Chronicles of Narnia

.
The cd's I have is A Focus on the Family Radio Theatre (r) Production released by Tyndale House Publishers Inc.
.
It is a set of seven cd's and I have listened to all of them at least once, some more.
.
I also have dvd's of Harry Potter movies and have watched them at least once and parts of them more than once.
.
How do you relate or not relate Narnia with Potter and vice versa?
