- Just so I'm clear...
The only thing I would say, concerning you personally, is that your views regarding Jesus Christ would not be consistent with those of the early Christians - i.e., the ones referred to in the book of Acts when the name "Christian" was first used.
Am I being self-righteous or judgmental to point that out? I don't think so. It's just a historical fact. Might there be some overlap? Sure. But on the fundamental issues of Jesus' divinity and resurrection, it seems to me that you differ with the early church. If I'm wrong, correct me.

Seems like it's turned into a fuss.

It wasn't important in the first place. Sorry.

Phil claims he is a Christian..
Phil claims that the bible is not an accurate account, but only written by mere men.
Phil is a christian because he believes in a book that is not factual....
I think that defines what a christian is, in non-christian terms!
(rofl)...

You see, Brian. It's good to be careful about what you say when people look up to you for guidance.

The way I see it, a Christian is one who has accepted Jesus Christ, had been saved through Grace and has a personal relationship with Him.
The Bible is the Word of God, no matter who put it on paper. If the Bible is not factual, that means God is not who He says He is. If God is not who He says He is, then He is a liar. If one is to believe that God is a liar they are denying Him and those who deny Him are not Christian.
Well, that's how I see it anyway.

Hello Kim.. Its good to read your response.. I miss seeing you around.. but do love your emails!...
Well, that's how I see it anyway.
and.. with wisdom, you see well my friend.... I believe your message will ring crystal clear. Sometimes, the foolish, simply need to see - in words - how foolish their positions have become.. Does this make a person "a fool"... Only if they retain such a position, clearly rejecting the obvious....
deceiving ones self is not only wilfull, and ignorant, but is the blindness that has descended upon the "righteous man" within his own eyes....

- An Evangelical Christian
I think Kim's definition does hew closer to the evangelical mold - which is where I personally come from as well.
The historical/biblical understanding of a Christian is a bit broader. It's one who embraces Jesus as the divine, risen Lord. That's what united the Jewish Christians and the Gentile Christians in Acts, even those Christians divided over issues like circumcision, works, etc.
Thus, I think such the historical/biblical definition of Christian would still unite Christians of different denominations today.
**I will say to my evangelical friends that "Christian" is a title given by men, and thus defining "Christian" is not the same as determining who is going to heaven. The latter is a determination that God makes.
Pink seems to want to broaden the definition of "Christian" out further than the original historical/biblical understanding of the term. He can certainly do that, since again we are talking about a man-made title/designation to begin with. BUT...I think that, before society fully embraces a broader, more relativistic, loosey-goosey definition of "Christian" - we need to acknowledge that we are indeed broadening it.
I say that without any self-righteousness or judgmentalism in mind.
