We deconstruct almost everything that has been held sacrosanct for what seems like forever.

Well, I can understand pretty much why you discount the afterlife. It not as if you are spending most of your waking moments praying for the poor and dying or needlepointing scripture verses. You are about the business of encouraging folks to give up on God and the afterlife, the same work as committed atheists. Have you had anyone lately tell you that this is some kind of higher calling from above? ABC.

Maybe you could at least give a thought regarding the science and history of where the races came from.
.
Just dropped in for a moment. I'll respond later when I can concentrate. We're getting bashed by our first winter ice/snow storm here. And I've got my grandkids staying for the weekend.
.
In the meantime, maybe YOU could do some science/history research on your question?

We had a lively wonderful fellow a few weeks back who gave some interesting data and computed the numbers on human progression back to less than 10,0000 years for the tribe of humanoids we represent. Remember that guy?

As to the races, I've got this story in Genesis. What have you got?

My grandson is coming in a few weeks. Imagine how happy I will be.

And we are about two hours into the storm here in Southwestern Michigan.

They're saying we might get an ice storm before it is over. Within the last 30 minutes or so the blowing snow has turned to a mixture of snow and sleet. Looks real bad for travel out there. Nice and cozy inside as long as the electricity holds out. I knew I should have bought that generator when I had the chance.

How ironic! I was just discussing this very thing, and a heavy duty snow blower, with my hubby night-before-last. I did buy plenty of ice melt before the storm hit ... which we ~really~ needed this morning.
.
Storm should be passing through Ohio today. How ya doin', Bri?

After doing some reading, I've discovered that my use of 'races' is inaccurate and antiquated. We're supposed to be using the term 'ethnic groups' (or sub-groups) instead. Physical differences between ethnic groups is thought to be caused by an evolutionary mutation of genes - specifically those which benefited survivability in certain environs. I suppose one would need to believe in evolution to accept this explanation. The Bible offers no explanation for the variety of ethnic groups. However, it does acknowledge a pre-flood race of human-like giants (Nephilim, Emim, and Anakim) which were described as distinctly different from ordinary men. We've already discussed Nephilim in Gen. 6.

.
4 "But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.
.
The verse behind 'kosher' animal slaughter (Shechita). IMO, the Jews will have to give an accounting to their God for their barbaric and inhumane methods. The rabbi (shocket) slits the live animal's throat and it bleeds to death (which takes several minutes). If you have the stomach to watch...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZJg_z4BL...
.
5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.
.
The Sumarians and Semites believed blood to be the divine life force. According to Jewish law, the drained blood was to be buried under dirt - thus returning the life force back to the earth (Gen 3:19).
.
Note: "And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting." First prohibition against suicide?
.
And "I will demand an accounting from every animal." Does this mean he'll hold a predatory animal (which he created) accountable for shedding blood?
.
In these verses, it's clear God wants the animal to be killed first before eating it. Prohibitions against blood eating might also be referring to the rituals and practices of animal/human sacrifice by neighboring cultures.
Omophagia
http://www.themystica.com/mystica/articl...
(quote) "Meaning "Eating-into-the Belly," a Greek ritual of holy communion by eating the flesh of sacrificial victims, human or animal. (see Sacrifice) This custom goes back to primitive tradition when worshippers would tear apart the victims with their hands and teeth as supposedly happened in the earliest cults of Dionysus, Opheus, Ziagreus, and other gods torn apart in their myths. "The communicants rushed madly upon the sacrificial animal, tore it to pieces and ate it raw, believing that the god was resident in the offering...It was believed thus there took place an identification with the god himself, together with a participation in his substance and qualities." His immorality was consumed too-both in the omophagia and its descendant, the Christian sacrament of communion-though the body is no longer meat but tiny pieces of bread." (end)
.
6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made man.

.
God's first judicial declaration of the 'a life-for-a life' death penalty. Here, God authorizes Man to act in his behalf to meter out God's justice - Man being in God's image. Yet, by shedding another man's blood, isn't he also subject to the same penalty? Comments?
