This saying was a favorite of President Harry S. Truman.
I don't think Truman ever owned a kitchen or spent much time thinking about poisoned food when he spoke this. Maybe he did. Some of the stories like the story of Noah don't lend themselves to a quick lunch. But if you want to daily visit this story with a view to 'annialate' God, you have chosen the right venue. There is nothing more than I can say about this section of text that would be helpful to those who are closed to the idea of God working in the history through the supernatural. This is become a daily meeting of sceptics and agnostics, and one believer. Even Wendell has gone missing. lol. You choose to spend your days attacking the scriptures of others. I guess it is too bad that you don't have any scriptures or any beliefs in a god so that you might be able to observe my behavior when I discussed your beliefs. It might surprise you.

Have you received a 'higher message' - a revealed inspiration for our spiritual enlightenment - from the Noah legend? I know Jeff was asking for one. I was hard pressed to find and offer one myself. Do you think this legend is merely a historical account - as you simply put it: 'God working in the history through the supernatural"?

How would you go about defining spiritual enlightenment?
I am unaware that you have a spiritual insight. It would appear that anyone who denies the spirit world would not have a belief in spirits. Am I missing something?
I posted a sort of summary in my post #1162 to those who have a faith in the spiritual. The story of Noah concerns faith and redemption. However, if you don't believe in spirituality, then it going to be pretty hard to come up with a message in the story.
God, according to this text, teaches us through history and our interaction with Him. I do believe the events recorded happened. Why would you feel that you need to come up with a message for an event that you believe is legend put together by men motivated to repress other men? What good message would come from that? You have discounted all the stories so far to that basis, I think. So the scriptures become to you just like the newspaper comics. Or old false accounts. Everything will adjust back to the main motive of the writer to contrive to keep you and Pinky subject to religion. Why not just go pursue a spiritual life, instead of this daily one act play of blaming men for the bible?
Do you ever have any spiritual thoughts about a spirit world? If so, would it please you if there were another world of spirits?

I guess there is some evidence that it is so--mathematical, etc. I don't doubt the existence of such; but, I do not know.
Why would it matter? Is there some desire that you haven't shared that would cause you to want to spend more time with Jesus? Not only does it appear that you don't actually believe in a god, it appears that you are clueless as to what function God would serve if He existed. What would be the point of your god? Just to house, feed, and make sure that our lives are fairly comfortable.
You have evolved to the point that Jesus can't answer your questions because His words don't specify whether the universe is bounded by time, eternity, or some kind of an elaborate wall. Usually when a person gets to that point, they aren't so much giving up on streets of gold and a favorite cat, but they have given up on seeing spouse or parent or God.

Could you elaborate on what you mean above? I do wonder how many might've 'seen the light', repented, and had faith like Noah... had God not drown them.
We can see by whatever light we have been given. We have the light of Jesus in modern times. If you choose to blame God in the ancient time for taking the lives of the ancient folk without cause, then have at it. This is the story you have to hit the jackpot. We only have a few sentences to arrive at the message that evil had corrupted even the innocents.
That blanket statement could apply to every story in the Bible, no? How does this legend ~specifically~ relate to faith and redemption? Is it simply that Noah deserved to be saved because he had faith?
You promised to help finish this story. Remember? Maybe when we get closer to the end, you will see something in the text. I hope so. It appears that you might be opening up a little.
