If there are no other comments on Chapter 8, shall we move on to Chapter 9?
.
Would you like to introduce the next verses, Jones?

» Migisi - Pink's canon questions

In response to post 1126 - part 2 posted by pink101:
.
What relationship did they have with each other before the Nicene Conference turned them into the Revealed Word of God--the Septuagint?
.
Depends on which Bible you're reading, Pink.
.
What is the difference between the Catholic Bible and the Protestant Bible?
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_di...
(quote) "Bible translations developed for Catholic use are complete Bibles. This means that they contain the entire canonical text identified by Pope Damasus and the Synod of Rome (382) and the local Councils of Hippo (393) and Carthage (397), contained in St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate translation (420), and decreed infallibly by the Ecumenical Council of Trent (1570). This canonical text contains the same 27 NT Testament books which Protestant versions contain, but 46 Old Testament books, instead of 39."(end)

What is the difference between Protestant and Catholic Bibles?
http://www.twopaths.com/faq_bibles.htm
(quote) "At the time the Christian Bible was being formed, a Greek translation of Jewish Scripture, the Septuagint, was in common use and Christians adopted it as the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. However, around 100 A.D., Jewish rabbis revised their Scripture and established an official canon of Judaism which excluded some portions of the Greek Septuagint. The material excluded was a group of 15 late Jewish books, written during the period 170 B.C. to 70 A.D., that were not found in Hebrew versions of the Jewish Scripture. Christians did not follow the revisions of Judaism and continued to use the text of the Septuagint.
.
"Protestant reformers in the 1500s decided to follow the official canon of Judaism for the Old Testament rather than the Septuagint, and the excluded material was placed in a separate section of the Bible called the Apocrypha. Protestant Bibles included the Apocrypha until the mid 1800s, but it was eventually dropped from most Protestant editions.
.
"The Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches continue to base their Old Testament on the Septuagint. The result is that these versions of the the Bible have more Old Testament books than Protestant versions. Catholic Old Testaments include 1st and 2nd Maccabees, Baruch, Tobit, Judith, The Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach (Ecclesiasticus), additions to Esther, and Susanna and Bel and the Dragon which are included in Daniel. Orthodox Old Testaments include these plus 1st and 2nd Esdras, Prayer of Manasseh, Psalm 151 and 3rd Maccabees." (end)
.
-------
.
Had they been completely separate books written on scrolls not associated with each other?
.
http://www.bible.ca/b-canon-codex-printi...
(quote) "A "codex" is a fancy word for "book format" with a binding, as opposed to a scroll format. Codices were used in the ancient world in the first century for secular purposes. Scrolls on the other hand were almost the exclusive format used for the Old Testament. It seems that Christians broke with Jewish tradition and began using the codex format from the very earliest time. This is quite striking. After this point scripture began to be copied in the codex format." (end)
.
---------------------
.
Or were they always seen in the sequences we see them in to day?
.
http://www.bible.ca/b-canon-earliest-evi...
(quote) "D. Uniform Arrangement within each category: Generally there was a similar order of books like Matthew, Mark Luke and John within the gospel collection. Although there were exceptions to the ordering of the books, they were often very similar." (end)

We are through eight chapters of the book of Genesis and we are disagreed about whether God ever spoke to anyone about anything. It would seem to be the view of those who lack faith in any kind of credibility of this ancient text that their behavior is not tied in anyway to this story. lol.

Yet it is almost the same story in almost every page in the bible. Your sins are about to find you out. Justice will overtake you at some point. My own inclination would be to stay out of this thread on a daily basis, if only to allow the opposite message to be fully revealed that there is no justice and no authority in the heavens, and no need to repent of anything.

As I have attempted to share before in the threads, the voice of God which is given in scripture has always been a total fascination for me, and a point of strength in my faith. I see God not wanting to punish but to save. Even if it means a small remnant as we have here in the story of Noah.

So, with that said. Ladies first. Go ahead Migisi and continue to pour ice water on the fire. You do often make some good points. But when it comes to "Thus saith the Lord," whoever actually reads this thread from time to time must make some sort of reasonable choice about whether anyone at anytime has ever heard from God a specific, and certain word of punishment or praise.

i'm just an oldtimer for the Lord.

Okee dokee. I'll begin tomorrow.

No reason to withold the torture, I guess.

Part of the reason that I cannot simply stop by with a friendly hello is that I am not impartial when it comes to the slamming of God and the bible. I like and enjoy both God and you, but I am pained by the idea that I could daily be a part of trying to make others like you understand my love for Him, which comes across so clown clumsy. I'm just one very little fellow here in Texas, and I am a little behind on the last part of staging my flip house. I will pray for you.
