» pink101 - Arcane?
In response to Pink's progress posted by redback:
.
Sometimes, when I read some of your posts, I have to read them over and over; because it seems to me I must be missing something--some hidden meaning.
.
I think it might be the difference in our lingo that makes me think you're being arcane. I don't think you are.
.
But, it looks to me like you're saying there is something fishy about this story of the ark and Noah as well as god's way of dealing with things.
.
We live in transparent times. Fifty years ago, we wouldn't have noticed the man behind the curtain in the Emerald City. At least, most of us wouldn't have noticed him. Now, that we have instant messages from around the world, there's little held back. We know--Now!--what is going on in Pakistan. We see it on the tube and it is live.
.
Is that what you're saying?

Being like Jesus means staying poor and hungry?
I qualified my statement with 'may mean.' God is most interested in the heart, not the pocketbook.

Do you believe that if one puts all his faith in Jesus, Jesus will provide 'all these things' (the same material things 'the pagans run after')?
No, I don't. There are plenty of examples in the New Testament where a Christian is beaten, battered, and he loses everything in this world. Remember Stephen?
I think that if a person believes that Christ gave (Atonement) everything for us individually, and we choose to follow Christ, then there is a least some sort of Vegas odds reality that we might dedicate our life to others. It also seems possible that some dedicate their lives to others without any help from God. But it is the exception not the rule in my experience.

Your answers do not address or relate to material poverty or wealth
I'm sorry. I thought my answer was pretty good. I am going to go shop for Christmas now, and think of other things, rather than your questions. I'm not for any kind of prosperity gospel. Go ahead and attempt to say something through the eyes and life of Jesus. I'm all ears.

"but.. some want everything.. even though they deserve nothing...
