I learned from grandpa.. if you aint got the cash.. you cant have it...
but.. some want everything.. even though they deserve nothing...
who makes the claim that people deserve anything?....
if this is all there is.. then, why complain about your (meaning whoever) life.. better get on with life than bi*ch about how miserable life is...
almost everyone knows that life is miserable... right!...

"I'm all thumbs when it comes to the rehab of the Pink. lol."
Between that and my clumsy foot-in-mouth, I'm sure The Pink'll more than survive.

I think we get more examples here than we ask for...how simple words trigger different feelings that may or may not digress from the lesser and greater truths. I almost flipped out to hear what 'flip' means in the USA. AND coming from a man of compassion such as yourself, how easily 'economic correction' is added to the mix.
I think a greater truth of 'flip' comes when your son-in-law has a catfish(?) flipping onshore.

In response to Sad story posted by Migisi:A part of the American (and Australian) Dream of home ownership surely has to do with God not caring what unpaid bills & mortgage you ultimately bring with you? In any event, tis not His debt...and getting into such debt could be in pursuit of sinful pleasures. We read we can't bring our riches with us so we must know we can't spend...and that includes paying bills.
There is some economic analysis that it actually costs more to buy a house than lease it. And I concede the clinical, emotionless sense of the detail. But maybe sometimes we have to let go of unrealisable dreams??? To the extent none of these things matter in the after-life why should we care more on Earth? And tis the lack of caring that seems 'infectious' regardless of endgame. Ponder: 'Who cares WHY you don't care when YOU never care' (to everyone in general and no-one in particular)
Jack and Jane are simply not factored into the generalisations about a booming economy. And I've probably interviewed thousands a lifetime ago who seem to have an open ended Victim's Visa. Tis really hard to know...when things first unravelled for them plus twas too late to back peddle for them...what take corrective action to take now.
Has the American Dream encompassed Superman's catch-cry: 'Truth, Justice & The American Way'?? But then, IF we come to expect nothing, the Government may not exceed our expectations?

I probably should not have used a word that is so misunderstood and associated with greed. I have been in real estate for a lot of years, and just the term, Realtor, is thought to be an unjustified vocation for many. Human beings rarely decide to make wise decisions with their time, talent, and dollars. Migisi's story is a case in point that few lives ever make total sense when it comes to putting desires before needs. We need biblical truth in our lives so that when the time comes to really sacrifice, we won't paint ourselves into the corner of being helpless victims, and thinking our entire life is the fault of somebody else. I think that is what Wendell is saying. When we ask for the Lord's help, we need to remember that being like Jesus may mean staying poor and staying hungry. Otherwise we will just hate the rich and powerful, just because they are rich and powerful. And that can't bring anything good into a life, especially love of neighbor. Even if your neighbor is rich, you do have to love him/her. And usually it is a good idea to admire someone who has achieved great things.

Being like Jesus means staying poor and hungry? So, you're going to flip houses and donate them to the homeless, right?

OK...I share some responsibility for digressing from the Bible reading. ![]()
From Genesis 8:13 which I can't cut & paste:
At precisely 3:30PM AEDST, in the 601st year, 1st month, 1st day, far far more than 973,100 megaliters of water** 'disappeared'. Some found its way into new lakes and oceans and rivers and underground river systems in drought ridden countries....not to mention tree sap...but the vast majority of it simply miraculously disappeared by close of business 1st day. Dry land for New Years Day.
(**One of world's largest dams...Sydney's Warragamba Dam's...max daily delivery capacity x 370 days)
8:14 And after NYD, it was also dry on 7 and 20 February.
8:15-22 After disembarkation, the BBQ etc, the Lord promised to Himself He'd never apply that very specific Flood form of capital punishment destruction again..."while the Earth remaineth..." in its present harvest capacity, climate etc.
Comment:
The Bible teaches us that despite what we may second-guess about His judgement and how "safe" we might be that beliefs about Jesus will see us through, God/Jesus/God doesn't have to fit in with what we thought should have happened.
A flawed human using whatever WMDs at his ancient disposal would surely be considered a war criminal in contemporary times. But those in power exude and exert righteous power FAR beyond our ken. Absolute power ONLY absolutely corrupts humans...was Lord Acton's intent.
So, is God and the Bible God (still?) in sync? After all...God has existed for centuries AFTER the Bible.
Did God care more about the MANY saved animals and their animal behaviour than all humans and their animal behaviour? I mean is woman intended to be a secondary or tertiary being?
The Bible needs to be read in context - even 3C.
So:
"So the Lord changed His mind about the harm which He said He would do to His people," (Exodus 32:14, NASB)"
NEVER intended to convey the impression that God changes his mind.
He gave us free will but never said He wouldn't get angry if we used it in a manner not to His liking nor that He is restricted by any tools such as 'free will' He gives us. We're still too dumb to know even this freedom comes at a spiritual cost.
And just before they drowned, a simple poor family who couldn't bribe anyone for a berth on the Ark, were heard to cry: "Life's not fair" but no-one recalled God making such a promise nor heard their cries.
My take is just how much myth is within the legend here, is lost to antiquity. And it unravels some of the Bible's message for me. I have to go beyond populist interpretations of OT/NT or Book by Book of the Bible.
