My family and I went to a patriot rally in downtown Wilmington, Ohio today. It was organized by a mother of two service members over in Iraq. There was a platoon of recent Marine recruits present there, several members of the active armed services there, police and fire, veterans from the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, etc., etc. And a few families from our church - and other churches.

President Bush's name wasn't mentioned at all during the rally, except in a prayer - and that was consistent with our biblical call to pray for our leaders (whether we agree with them or not).

But we proudly praised our nation and our military.

The fact that people are uncomfortable praising our country and our military - even though they may oppose our government politically - is disturbing.

I love the United States of America and, yes, I'm proud to be an American. As should all Americans.

Can you be specific as to why you are proud or is it just a popular thing to say?
.
It seems like you are saying that people who don't agree with your ideology are opposed to our military and our country?
