» pink101 - A Cooked Idea

.
Civil Rights has come to be seen as a negative connotation to be used like a label against persons.
.
In the past century, States Rights advocates made an issue of their so-called "conservative" stance by cooking up the idea that Civil Rights are connected to some kind of a socialist or communist ideology.
.
So, it is very easy to put anyone or anything down using Civil Rights. Think about the Civil Liberties Union. When someone is addressing a conservative audience, they can easily dispel any respect for any progressive movement or person by just mentioning that there is a connection to the CLU involved.
.
The idea of Civil Rights gets linked to liberal thinking that has, in itself, negative connotations. And, liberal thinking gets linked to other words like communism, socialist, Marxist, dictators, enemies, and so on. So, just push a button and you can win an argument.
.
Civil Rights?
.
To whom do they belong? What are they?
.
When the Civil Right of Freedom of The Press is claimed to be the right of a Corporate Media to exercise its control over what the people get to see, read, and hear, then you see an example of how Corporate Rights are used to buttress Empire Rights.
