I am NOT a fan of Pat Robertson - not at all! And I'm NOT in favor of killing Chavez. And yet you and Migisi continue to associate me with him. This is both inflammatory and immature on your parts, frankly.
.
Well, I'm not a fan of his either. You wrote: "...Venezuela would be better off - MUCH better off - with a change of leadership.". Sounds a tad familiar to me. I'd be interested to hear how you would change another country's leadership. Remove Chavez like we removed Saddam - invade and destroy Venezuela? Orchestrate and supply another coup?
.
After the (ehem) Man of God was criticized for his Aug. 2005 assassination remark, Robertson lied and denied it - saying he only meant a ~regime change~. But on Feb. 2, 2006, he repeated his assassination recommendation - claiming Chavez is going to nuke the US as justification. What a whacko! Short video clip of Robertson on the 'Hannity & Colmes' TV show. http://mediamatters.org/items/2006020300...

I strongly disagree with Chavez's economic philosophy (socialism) and political philosophy (totalitarianism). And I disagree with the friends he keeps - i.e., Fidel Castro. And I don't appreciate him coming on American soil and calling my President "Satan." And I don't like the fact that he tried to take power in the early 90s by means of violence and murder. And I don't like the fact that he continues to use violence and intimidation to maintain power. I could go on.
.
You don't like Chavez. You can disagree strongly all you like. I don't like my country's President. I could give you a long list of why I strongly disagree with just about everything he's done. But the fact is that BOTH Chavez and Bush were elected by majority vote of their people. The Venezuelans wanted Chavez. American conservatives wanted Bush. Unfortunately, we all suffer under majority rule. That's life - here and there. Chavez called Baby Bush 'the devil', Daddy Bush called Chavez 'an ass'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqCAxYFZ8... . Sticks and stones, Bri. Nothing to go to war about.
.
I also know personally a family that used to live in Venezuela and that had to flee to the USA for their safety in light of Chavez.
.
Did they immigrate to the US as refugees or asylees? There's a difference. Or did they cross the border and enter the US without filing any legal applications? Just curious.
