I don't favor assassinations, except for known terrorist figures. So I would NOT support, encourage, or wish for the assassination of Mr. Chavez. But...
The United States SHOULD have a presence in every hot spot in the world - and should be prepared to influence situations according to its just interests.
As to whether the US should encourage the destabilization of Chavez's government, I don't know. I'm not in a position to say yea or nay to that. If I had top-secret clearance and knowledge of sensitive intel, I could make a better assessment of that.
I will be clear on THIS point, though. Hugo Chavez is a dangerous, corrupt, power-hungry despot and Venezuela would be better off - MUCH better off - with a change of leadership.
