» pink101 - Endowment For Democracy

In response to Covert action posted by Migisi:
.
What do you have to say about endowing a democracy on another nation from the top down?
.
Is that how democracy works?
.
It didn't work that way in America.
.
It was bottom up.

» pink101 - Venezuelan Dictator?

Take a look at this site.
.
http://www.johnpilger.com/page.asp?parti...
.
We should be thrilled with a nation where democracy is growing from the bottom up. Instead, our foreign policy is to protect Empire Rights in opposition to Human Rights.
.
Disgusting.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Heritage Foundation

I'm going to put you all to the test on this label thing. If it's wrong for me to categorize and/or label people or groups and then dismiss them, then it's wrong for YOU to do it as well.

So...here's what the Heritage Foundation has to say about Hugo Chavez. I expect more thoughtful responses from you, than just simply "That's what the conservatives think" or "That's what the money people think." Address the content, please.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Democracy stuff

All this democracy nonsense talked about with respect to Mr. Chavez, how soon some of you forget that Chavez tried to come to power in 1992. That failed coup was responsible for the brutal murder of many people -- murders ordered by Chavez! So, don't tell me that Chavez is some great democrat. That won't wash.

» pink101 - Heritage Foundation

In response to Heritage Foundation posted by BrianTubbs:
.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heritage_Fo...
.
"The Heritage Foundation is a conservative public policy research institute based in Washington, D.C., in the United States.
.
"Heritage's stated mission is to 'formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.' Its operations have transformed the traditional concept of the 'think tank' and have had a significant impact on the domestic and foreign policies of the United States government.
.
"Founded in 1973, Heritage's initial funding came from political conservative Joseph Coors, co-owner of the Coors Brewing Company. Coors funding was later augmented by financial support from billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife. Conservative activist Paul Weyrich was its first head. Since 1977, Heritage's president has been Edwin Feulner, Jr., previously the staff director of the House Republican Study Committee and a former staff assistant to U.S. Congressman Phil Crane.
.
"Until 2001, the Heritage Foundation published Policy Review, a public policy journal, which was then acquired by the Hoover Institution. From 1995 to 2005 the Heritage Foundation ran Townhall.com, a conservative website.[1]"
(end of quotation)
------------------------------------------------
.
It's not so much that it represents conservative thinking as it is that it helps form what people who call themselves conservative are being taught to think.
.
No one has ever accused you of being pedantic, have they?
.

"Public policy schools teach students policy analysis/policy studies, public policy, public administration, and public affairs.

"A public policy school is an institution where prospective public policy analysts obtain public policy degrees, such as the Master of Public Policy (MPP), the Master of Public Administration (MPA), the Master of Public Affairs (MPAff), and PhDs in Public Policy, Policy Studies, Public Administration, and Doctor of Public Administration (DPA)."

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - I knew this would happen

You and Migisi post links all the time from left-wing websites, and proudly point to them as verification or validation of your opinions concerning Bush, Chavez, Christianity, whatever.

But when I post a link from a conservative organization, I'm "pedantic" or closed-minded or whatever.

Am I only allowed to post links from organizations that YOU find acceptable? Do you refuse to consider evidence or argumentation from a conservative source?

Sounds a little like labeling to me.
.
Are you saying that "left wing" websites are not legitimate?
.
More to the point, complaining about such minutia takes away from what we're discussing. Sometimes it's best to just ignore these things.

Are you saying that "left wing" websites are not legitimate?

Are YOU saying that conservative or pro-business websites are not legitimate?

Works both ways, doesn't it?

This isn't minutia. If we're going to accept your sources, then you need to accept mine.
