In response to "Wall of Separation" documentary posted by Migisi:

If you haven't seen the film, you have no right to say that it has a "Christian slant." I myself have not seen it, therefore I am making NO comments on its content. I merely object to your 'spin' on the information you posted. It was clear you were implying that, because the film was made by Christians, it therefore should be taken with a grain of salt. Whereas, presumably, if it were made by atheists and/or liberals, you would have issued on warning label.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - presidential directive gives Bush dictatorial power

In response to presidential directive gives Bush dictatorial power posted by _Boanerges_:

Come on, Wendell. Didn't you see Independence Day???? happy

Seriously, this is overplayed. There have been similar directives, memoranda, etc. in MANY presidential administrations over the course of American history - going back to the American Civil War!

Abraham Lincoln assumed almost dictatorial power at times during that war, and outright martial law was declared in the wake of Lincoln's assassination by Secretary of War Edwin Staunton.

So, you don't think there will be a Christian slant to the film, given who wrote and produced it and their reconstructionist/evangelical backgrounds? And given the religious focus of the film? Yeah, okay.

» _Boanerges_ - presidential directive gives Bush dictatorial power

In response to presidential directive gives Bush dictatorial power posted by BrianTubbs:
Hi Brian...
I understand what you are saying...
but.. this is a different world than that world...
Today.. they have the power to take control, if and when they decide.. Lincoln did not witness the destruction of 3skyscrapers o=in the heart of NYC, nor did he declare a war on terror that will last our "lifetime"... So.. my point is this... It can happen.. To say that it WILL not happen is not only foolish but irresponsible...

Now then, once you understand that THEY created the "emergency" then you can understand why THEY created laws for dictatorial power...

The problem I see with you is that you still buy the silly notion that Arab terrorist flew airplanes in the WTC towers... You have yet to answer the most obvious question: why did bldg #7 fall? Once you answer that, then you will know what truly is going on!....

In response to "Wall of Separation" documentary posted by Migisi:

So, you don't think there will be a Christian slant to the film, given who wrote and produced it and their reconstructionist/evangelical backgrounds?

And YOU don't think it's possible for Christians to be fair? For Christians to be objective - at least to the same degree that non-Christians can be objective?

And given the religious focus of the film? Yeah, okay.

YOU are the one drawing conclusions here. Not me. I am going to reserve judgment on the film until I see it.

.
For anyone--who has studied America's historic past--to not recognize the danger with which we are presently faced makes me wonder what motivates them.
.
The amazing thing to me is that they are not in the streets beating drums and firing cannons to rouse the nation to awareness of the dangerous situation in which we now exist.
.
And, what IS the danger toward which I am pointing if it is not the take over of our government by politically oriented dynasties under the guise that they are protecting our most deeply held values?
.
It is taking place BIG TIME.
.
Any historian knows it FULL WELL.

I'd take to the streets if George W. Bush dismissed Congress or called off the upcoming 2008 presidential election. Or, as Chavez has done, shut down opposition TV stations. These things aren't happening, though, because our Republic still stands - and George W. Bush is not the dictatorial demagogue that you and others here make him out to be.

No, and I doubt he will be. We have a great form of government and his time is almost up. More than that, his party does not control both houses of congress any more. But, he and a few of his predecessors sure have done the bidding of the corporatocracy that has the world in its clutches. And, YOU know it. Anyone with any sense knows it.

No, I really don't think these two evangelical and reconstructionist preachers can be fair and objective. Christian tunnel-vision doesn't permit a wide POV.
.
YOU are the one drawing conclusions here. Not me. I am going to reserve judgment on the film until I see it.
.
Of course I'm drawing a conclusion - like I do whenever I hear/read previews of any film. Let's say this documentary was produced by Michael Moore. Knowing his leanings, wouldn't you conclude that it would have a slant/agenda? Sure you would.

In a way, I agree with you. Even Cheney won't follow Bush's directives - even just for appearance's sake. Bush is Howdy Doody (a cowboy marionette). It's the US and foreign corporate weasels behind the curtain pulling the strings we need to worry about. They own the Congress. Why would they disband it? The American people have been conned into believing their Congressman is their voice in govenment. But in reality, they represent their campaign contributors and the lobbyists. Follow the money.
