When we base our view of reality on an ideology, we create a foundation on which we will live out our entire life's experience. This puts us in a situation where we will favor any input which gives support to our ideology and, likewise, where we automatically set aside any input that opposes it.

In effect, we do away with the thinking process we call rationalization--we give up on reason. It is a predisposition of great and potentially dangerous consequence.
.
But, so what if a person decides to live out their life according to some ideology? What difference does it make to me or to you for that matter?
.
Good question for our democracy may be led by such people when they gain the power of what is called the swing vote. They do not have to be in the majority. In fact, a small percentage of the electorate can control the destiny of America and, thus, the world.

Not good.
