» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Unfeigned, but....

In response to Nonsense posted by Migisi:

I am not feigning respect for you or anyone. I believe that just about every individual on planet earth is entitled to some measure of respect. And in your case, Migisi, I appreciate your intelligence, your passion, and the fact that you're a former police officer. That last one means a lot to patriots like me.

However, I do NOT respect or appreciate your cynicism. You and others here see everything - or so it seems - as a conspiracy against the people. You see Christianity as a conspiracy. You see conservative Republican politics as a conspiracy. You see the war in Iraq as a conspiracy. And on and on.

As I get older, I pray I don't become more cynical.

In response to Unfeigned, but.... posted by BrianTubbs:

The problem with Christianity is that people who claim to be religious have not read the Bible.

The problem with your average American patriot is that they have not read the Constitution.

How do you define 'patriot'?

You don't have to.

True in many cases. But not mine. I've read the Bible. And studied it.

The problem with your average American patriot is that they have not read the Constitution.

Once again, true in many cases. But not in mine. I've read the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Studied them and taught them too.

It IS possible for people to be intelligent, Oliver, and well studied - AND - to not agree with you.

In response to Unfeigned, but.... posted by Migisi:

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

I've been over to that site - EvilBible - quite a bit. Very interesting how they (and you) use adjectives and adverbs to caricature people as extremists. Very interesting - and clever.

Using adjectives and adverbs properly in a grammatical sense is one thing. Using them in such a bold and presumptuous way to presume to speak for AND interpret the thoughts and intentions of millions of others is quite another.
