My mother was one such doctor-shopper when she got old. If one didn't tell her what she wanted to hear, she'd go to another, and another - for a second, third, fifth, eleventh opinion. Her 'illnesses' gave her excuses to avoid participating in life. Yes, her drug cabinet was full. She was a script addict... uppers to rise in the morning, downers for bed, and mood elevators in between. Quite sad, really. She destroyed her health taking all those drugs for so many years. Now me? I have to be on death's door before I'll see a doctor.
