You don't do works to be saved--you do works because you believe and it's belief not the works that saves you. But, if you TRULY believe you WILL do the works.

Probably enough said on that subject. You explain it pretty well. I'm trying to get some focus today. People grow up in highly authoritarian churches like mine, and they generally leave because they get mad at the 'management.' It rarely has anything to do with Jesus. Or the idea that the bible is bogus. Or that the sucklings are mistreated. They leave because they get ticked off at seeing little or no progress in their spiritual lives. And they get disappointed in their leadership.
Add to the factor, what you mentioned Pinky about Churchiness and the structure of being told what to do. Folks leave because they begin to feel deep down in their soul that there might be more God outside their church.

I guess some of the them might be right.

i am just an oldtimer for the Lord.
