ProtestantismCatholicism
» Brother_Jones - Finding the starting point. I grew up in a small Texas town where Catholics were sorta timid and they were few, and they didn't seem to amount to much in the way of being Texan.... They didn't talk about their religion, which is odd in Texas. And when they said something about it, they seemed a little confused about a starting point to discuss. I think most of us felt down in our bones that the little church and its little strange ways would disappear in a decade.I noticed the other day that another poster remarked that she had some interest in the subject, but this site didn't really scratch the itch. So I thought we might pool our minds and resources about such a thing as Catholicism. I had my first serious look at a Catholic when I was in my twenties at bible college when a class activity sent me over to watch a service. Then I was given all kinds of reading material from Augustine to Pascal to discover that some of the guys were actually believers. lol. I do have a few questions for consideration. I have always wondered about their prayers. How is a person taught to pray and is there some kind of scorecard of the many saints and Jesus' family members to pray through. I would like to discuss this in a friendly, meaningful thread. I'm still under the influence of pepto bismo, but good luck to all participants. i am just an oldtimer for the Lord. -- posted by Brother_Jones
