ProtestantismThe Reality of Jesus
» pink101 - Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky .I think that--if we are to discuss the reality of Jesus--it is worthwhile to bring in Dostoevsky's ideas. . Reading The Grand Inquisitor which is a part of Dostoevsky's book, The Brothers Karamozov, we can get a good idea of how this brilliant man saw Jesus. . I've been listening to a lecture on The Grand Inquisitor in which the speaker opens up some understanding of how Russians during the time of Dostoevsky thought about things divine. . In The Grand Inquisitor, Jesus has returned to Earth for a brief visit and is being held in a prison dungeon by the head Inquisitor of the Catholic Church in Spain. The Cardinal accuses Jesus of making a mistake and it is through this mechanism that Dostoyevsky is able to explain his idea of what Jesus did for humanity--that is, the Gospel. And, he is able to show how Religionism has hijacked and subverted the teachings of Jesus to suit their priestly purposes. . Are any readers familiar with the story as Dostoyevsky tells it? . http://www.tameri.com/csw/exist/dostgi.h... . http://www.piney.com/PrDostoy.html . http://www.archipelago.org/vol4-3/endnot... . http://www.serendipity.li/jsmill/grand_i... . http://www.gradesaver.com/classicnotes/t... .
