Adam is as much God, as you are your mother...
.
Excellent point, Wendell. I agree. I am, very much, an extension of my mother as are you and as is everyone else.
.
That's part of an idea that is highly developed in Kaballah--everything is an aspect of God--everything; for, in beginning's purity, there only was God. So, all is God.
.
Some people call it the Great I Am; others speak of The One.

I understand...
However, you are not your mother... nor am I.. even though we came from her. We are not our fathers, even though we came from them....

Adam is unique in that HE only was created by God.. (no belly button).....

So, while it is true that we all have attributes of our parents, the same would be true for God. If God is the creator of all life, then certainly he would have thought of this long before this discussion.

But.. to claim that you are God - is ignorance and foolishness...

It's really too bad that you are such a literal thinker; otherwise, you might get a more colorfully wonderful view of reality. YOU are the biblicist. I'm pretty sure that somewhere in the Old Testament, God is recorded as saying, "I am that which I am becoming". Which, it seems to me, must mean that God is in the process of discovering and that the work is being done through us as we gravitate back toward our source. Could it be that we are the eyes, ears, nose, and body of God?
.
But, primitive people think in terms of fairy tale realities. What can anyone say?

if you can find it - quote it..

otherwise, "believing" that something is declared as such in the OT is only, "primitive people think in terms of fairy tale realities".

What can be said....

In response to A Representation posted by _Boanerges_:

actually.. Adam was created in Gods image.. everyone else is created in Adams image.... The bible is clear on that happy
.
Yes, the Bible does say that Seth was created in Adam's image and likeness. And Adam was created in who's image and likeness? The Bible says - God's. Therefore, Seth was a second generation knock-off of God too - and so on down the line to you and me.
.
If you compare my picture today with my Mom's at my age, there's no doubt that I am my mother's daughter. The resemblance is unquestionable. (Hence, the advice to guys before marrying -- your wife will look like her mother - wink!)
.
But are we talking here about physical 'image and likeness' - or the ~basic stuff~, the 'essence', that God and we (who are created like him) are made of? (If you believe in the creation legend, that is.)

Not exactly, but God did say his name was:
.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_am_that_I...
"I am that I am (Hebrew:------, pronounced Ehyeh asher ehyeh) is one English translation of the response God used in the Bible when Moses asked for his name (Exodus 3:14).... Ehyeh asher ehyeh is generally interpreted to mean I am that I am (King James Bible and others), yet, as indicated, is most literally translated as "I-shall-be that I-shall-be."
.
"The word Ehyeh is used a total of 43 places in the Old Testament, where it is usually translated as "I will be" -- as is the case for its first occurrence, in Exodus 3:12 -- or "I shall be," as is the case for its final occurrence in Zechariah 8:8."

Essence? no.. Attributes.. yes.. We are made of flesh and bones. So was Jesus (hence, God-man).... Are we like God? I believe that answer is self-explanatory....

In response to Excellent Point, Wendell posted by Migisi:

Isn't that Popeye's line: "I YAM WHATS I YAM"....

He yam a devil is what he yam.

Exodus 12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I AM THE LORD.

12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance FOR EVER.

How many Christians celebrate this feast today? Or does the LORD GOD's "forever" mean "until I allow my son to be murdered"?

Creepy demon.
