In response to Heavy On Your Mind posted by Brother_Jones:
.
You are trying to give voice to an idea about which there seems to be quite a bit of confusion.
.
You wrote, "I'm trying to make a point about religious faith. It is not always just about the individual. We came into this world with a pattern that we fit into the lives of others." (My emphasis)
.

.
Where did you get that idea?
.
Let's get that part straightened out before we go any further down this road.
.
Otherwise, it's quite an assumption.

Have you not studied World Religions? It is virtually impossible to find any tribe or society that does not acknowledge that a god-given pattern exists. It is only the fringe folks like yourself who chase around the edges trying to prove that nothing exists in the supernatural and pursuing God is without merit. That message is a complete fraud to the majority of the world who rise early in the morning to seek and pursue their God.

Sister Turtle,
.
The post to which this one is in response is an example of what I'm addressing regarding your questions in the Agendae/Agendas thread.
.
Brother Jones complete evades the question by making me responsible for his answer. He tries to show me as being stupid with his response. He does not interact in good faith.
.
Does this help you understand where I'm coming from?

Then, in response to Phil's request for clarification,

Brother Jones wrote:

All spiritual paths profess a belief that their deity gives order and meaning to their world. To those that believe, this is fact. To those who do not believe, it is not fact but a statement of faith.

But I don't understand what you mean about fitting that pattern into someone else's life. Should we not first determine how the pattern fits within our own life? And perhaps each person manifests his perception of the pattern in a different way, one which is consistent with his unique capabilities, gifts, and inclinations? Do you not see God in the face of every person, whether or not you know what he/she believes?

peace and love,
Paper Turtle

In response to Trying To Give Voice posted by paper_turtle:
.
The word, articulate, means--literally--to bend in the middle.
.
When a person is being articulate about a subject, it means they are speaking highly definitive words of expression.
.
When we are being articulate about our position and how we came to have it, we are giving voice to who it is that we are in the subject. We make ourself plain to each other. You get to know who it is that I am regarding the issue on the table--I'm not forcing you to see me in some foggy way.
.
The more clearly people relate with each other, the more honest each one can be. Dishonesty seems to be written intot he primer and so, when we get to be an adult, we are prone to present a false impression of ourself to others. Marriages and all kinds of other relationships fail because of unmet expecttions.
.
I think that is one of the main things wrong with our culture--the lack of our ability to be perfectly honest about who it is that we are--how we think--what we think--the whole shebang. We fail to give voice to our own identity. In this way, we are dishonest.
.

Do you not see

Maybe not as well as you.

I agree with all four of the last posts. I think you and Pinky are getting to the age where you definitly see the pattern but you don't particularly like the explanation from the current group of theologians and non-believers. I guess I can relate to that problem. On any given day if we had to choose up sides and go to war, we might all end up flipping a coin and just taking our chances with whatever the coin said our best partner might be.

Sister Turtle--Again take a look at what Brother Jones is doing here.
.
He definitely is speaking to persons who are not participating in this thread--at least at the present time.
.
We are left to guess what it is that is on his mind other than the fact that he wants readers to think that he is in control. He WILL not deal with the subject.

In response to Sister Turtle--Again posted by pink101:

Pinky. Her suggestion or idea that we see God in the face of every person is certainly worth getting back to. It is one way of describing the pattern that every person should see. I guess it could be argued that Buddha, Mohammed, and Jesus saw that pattern profoundly different. But it is hard to argue against the thought that each one of these gentlemen saw the pattern.

In response to Back to the pattern posted by Brother_Jones:
.
Where do YOU get the idea that there is some inborn pattern we should see?
.
That seems like such a major assumption to me. Where does such an idea originate in your mind? Are you able to account for it or do you just assume it based on some myth that is handed down that you accept as part of some overall ideology?
