In response to Heavy On Your Mind posted by Brother_Jones:.
Where did you get that idea?
.
Let's get that part straightened out before we go any further down this road.
.
Otherwise, it's quite an assumption.

In response to Trying To Give Voice posted by pink101:You are trying to give voice to an idea about which there seems to be quite a bit of confusion.

You wrote, "I'm trying to make a point about religious faith. It is not always just about the individual. We came into this world with a pattern that we fit into the lives of others." (My emphasis)

Have you not studied World Religions? It is virtually impossible to find any tribe or society that does not acknowledge that a god-given pattern exists. It is only the fringe folks like yourself who chase around the edges trying to prove that nothing exists in the supernatural and pursuing God is without merit. That message is a complete fraud to the majority of the world who rise early in the morning to seek and pursue their God.

All spiritual paths profess a belief that their deity gives order and meaning to their world. To those that believe, this is fact. To those who do not believe, it is not fact but a statement of faith.
But I don't understand what you mean about fitting that pattern into someone else's life. Should we not first determine how the pattern fits within our own life? And perhaps each person manifests his perception of the pattern in a different way, one which is consistent with his unique capabilities, gifts, and inclinations? Do you not see God in the face of every person, whether or not you know what he/she believes?

Do you not see
Maybe not as well as you.
I agree with all four of the last posts. I think you and Pinky are getting to the age where you definitly see the pattern but you don't particularly like the explanation from the current group of theologians and non-believers. I guess I can relate to that problem. On any given day if we had to choose up sides and go to war, we might all end up flipping a coin and just taking our chances with whatever the coin said our best partner might be.

» Brother_Jones - Back to the pattern
In response to Sister Turtle--Again posted by pink101:Pinky. Her suggestion or idea that we see God in the face of every person is certainly worth getting back to. It is one way of describing the pattern that every person should see. I guess it could be argued that Buddha, Mohammed, and Jesus saw that pattern profoundly different. But it is hard to argue against the thought that each one of these gentlemen saw the pattern.
