We're using a media about which we have little foreknowledge. It's called the New Media by some of its students. And, others just call it cyber space. Either title, same thing.

New and different.

When people who really do not "know" each other gather on common ground, there is a tendancy to associate with certain others. In the beginning, there may be a little fencing that goes on to help persons identify with others who are like minded. It might be a little like people gathered on the platform in a subway station or--maybe more like being in the concourse of an international airport--have you ever done that?

Sometimes, people make investments in such gatherings as though their personal identity were involved.
.
Persons gather here for various reasons.
.
One of the reasons I come here is to learn how the media works. Another is to bounce my ideas off others to see what kind of feedback I get. It seems like a reciprocal situation to me. You might come here for similar reasons--maybe not.

Some people think, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
