I tried to take a trip on the bay last night, not because of moody blues or my boss' locomotive breath was too much to take, it was just because work was done, it was time to come home and the water is the easiest route.
.
I get down near the dock of the bay and here comes Joe Efficient waving his arms, telling me that the Coast Guard had closed all water traffic in the area because some idiot called in a bomb threat!
.
Fortunately, human beings were on top of the situation and dialed up a bus for us to take the long way home. A long and winding road it is, indeed.
.
On the bus, the only human being in my life who troubles me stood right next to me. He did not stop talking during the entire 20 minute ride. Not for a moment!
.
A total stranger, who was having a quiet conversation with his wife, was sitting next to me. As we arrived at our destination, he made a whispered comment about the yacker to his wife.
.
Normally, I don't pay attention to such comments, but here was my chance.
.
"Oh, thank you for saying that!," I told him, my voice rising loud enough for the yacker to hear me. "I thought I was the only one annoyed by him!"
.
"Yeah, he goes on and on with his opinions and his religious talk all the time," the other fellow noted.
.
I thanked him again and, loud enough for the whole bus to hear, I agreed that it was always Jesus this and Religion that and Politics and Yada, Yada, 24/7, whenever you see him.
.
The bus stopped and the yacking evangelist left red faced. When I saw him this morning on the way to work, he had nothing to say.
.
Emboldened in the rightness of my actions the day before, today I prepared and sent my letter to the Coast Guard: "If a bomb threat closes all water traffic, the terrorists have won."
.
But to make an evangelist silent, for at least one morning, I'd say the detour was worth it.

You might find it interesting to learn how the presidents Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, and G.W. Bush dealt with internal security matters and civil liberties during times of war. While Roosevelt used the situation to promote civil liberties the others used/use it to restrict our rights as American citizens.

Have you heard about the food poisoning scare in America as a result of the poisoned meal coming in from China? Melamine--is that the name of the poison?

How does such a scare come down on America when we have such a great Homeland Security system? It looks to me like China could do us in in a matter of days if they so desired. Someone mentioned baby bibs with lead in them imported from China and distributed by the Walmart people. What other methods of assaults against America are being tested by foreign interests?

When I think of all the additives, hormones, pesticides, pharmacuticals, e coli and zoonotic diseases the FDA and Ag permit (by percentage) in our food stuff, melamine almost sounds insignificant. I'm thinking of hiring a food taster. If he drops dead, I won't eat the pork chop.

Who's minding the store? Nobody. Not the FDA, Dept. of Ag, US Customs, the NSA. They're all out to lunch.

We have a president who is so hot to do trade with China he can hardly contain himself.

At the same time he claims he must break our Constitution in order to keep us safe from those people who hate our way of life--Al Queda et al.

While he jabbers and fidgets about Homeland Security and manufactured worries about the enormous number of poor Mexicans who only want to eek out a living, he and our greedy politicians open our gates to China the mother nation of Communists who truly do hate our system of government based on ideological theories passed down by Engels and Marx.

A few weeks ago, some pets were poisoned by pet food made with Chinese meal that was tainted with melamine. The Chinese authorities claimed the problem was contained and over. Now, we have seen that the melamine has migrated into fish imported from Canada--fed with meal imported into Canada from China.
.
Wanna know how the American population could be decimated in a couple of weeks?

Darn, what do YOU call them? You have commas and then those tiny little dot things to end a sentence?

I found you have to keep all key stroke thingies away from the smiley by at least one space. When I typed the smileys without text I hit the space bar several times and when posted they were left justified.

Talking of smileys, I reflected on some of the topics/discussions here including the mention of Mars. My mind wandered and wondered.

God created an imperfect social system because a perfect one would be wasted on flawed man like pearls before swine. The social system was created in the ether and energy forces before man...probably Day 1. Mankind was created flawed on Earth as an ego-battle experiment only. God 10, mankind nil.

It only all comes together perfectly on Planet Dag and/or Heaven. ABC

How about in an hour or a day - the WORLD decimated. Think nuclear, Pink. But I refuse to obsess about the end of the world.

It's a beautiful day here in my corner of paradise ... no natural disasters here like fires, tornados, or floods. I count my blessings.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
