» pink101 - It's All About Culture

In response to Good Place To Start posted by Brother_Jones:
.
Well, some people appear to be here just to pass the time of day with niceties and sweetness.
.
Have you guessed that I am not one of those:
.
You wrote, "... collision with Christian culture. ... lots of associates ... are having some difficulty trying to come up with a history of any rules and standards ... We don't want to see God as Law and Order, or as a mirror to the idea that we have not always loved and lived well, and given our children room to run and roam. But the idea of God becomes the image of the ultimate Soft One if it is going to have much air time and He is the One who comes to us to do our bidding and extends us something akin to Grace of which we are not sure why He or anyone could imagine such a boundary that would separate us from each other and from comprehending why Jesus came into the world."
.
Who can you blame that on? Anyone at all? It seems to me that everyone who wants to pick up on the moment is complicit.
.
I think the question absolutely IS CULTURE. No doubts in my mind about that at all.
.
Our culture, if you like it or not, is heavily developed from the Holy Bible. You can scream and holler that the Bible is a fairy tale and or all about a god who has a blood thirst for killing sucklings; but, that is where our culture is derived for a very large part. Another source is the heritage we get from ancient Greece.
.
If anyone is going to be honest in such a discussion, they MUST accept the Bible as a foundation and they MUST also accept the ancient Greeks as well.
.
There is a blend and we call it Western Civilization.
.
That's the starting gate.
.
But, watch, someone will jump in--sooner or later--and want to pick up on some point of contention as though it were the beginning of reason.
.
Not.
.
Or maybe their gentility has been too roughly assaulted?
.
That's an ABC
.
