Those who are ignored eventually get bored and go away.

I suppose that's true. Are you getting bored? Are you threatening to go away?
.
They disrupt in the first place because they want attention.
.
Maybe, maybe not. Maybe they think they have a valid complaint they think should be addressed. So who is it that judges their comments are unworthy? The clique leaders?
.
When cliques are formed that put people outside the circle because they don't line up to some politically correct position, the honesty of the remaining effort is put in question.

I'm not bored, but I'm tired of the dog and pony show.

When people have a valid complaint, and phrase it in a way which is not inflammatory, that's fine.
.
But you and I both know many times people just burst into the middle of a discussion without a valid complaint, or even an interesting point to make.
.
Yes, sometimes clique dynamics are at work, BUT sometimes the person is outside of the circle because of his/her own words/actions.
.
How about asking people to be responsible for *how* they say what they say, as well as what? People seem to think its OK to behave differently on the 'net than they would in real life. They think they can get away with being rude because they are anonymous. But if someone walked up to you on the street, grabbed you by the collar, and said some of the things which are said here, you'd probably deck him, right? Me, I'd just walk away. Life is too short to waste it on boors.
.
peace and love,
Paper Turtle
.
PS--can you get any Canadian TV stations where you are? If you can, have you ever watched Canadians debate an issue? They know how to get their point across without resorting to labeling, name calling, or even a high degree of emotion. Very refreshing.

We are not allowed to watch Canadian TV here in Southwestern Michigan. We can't even find any Canadian radio stations. Over by Detroit, we get to watch and hear Canadian. Over here, the only thing we can do is drink Canadian.

You mean like asking someone if they've seen the latest pictures of their flowers?

Have you considered that others might be bored too - or maybe that a friendly post about flowers is an attempt to lighten up or disrupt an ugly battle between two posters?
.
I think we all need Windex for our mirrors so we can clearly see how we've contributed to the communication problem here.

I'll be back later. My grand kids have arrived. Time for some fun.

An ugly battle between two posters? You show disdain.

Maybe you should pay a little more attention to what is being said.

The fact that Brother Jones can post what he is thinking is commendable. He deserves credit not because he is politically correct; but, because he expresses what he thinks.

Are you able to express your true self?

» HeadZenCards - The Complete Quote

In response to IMHO posted by paper_turtle:

My complete #22 Focus post was:

Today I am thankful for the realization that the negative associations I perceive are because of the way I interpret them.

It is my attitude that turns a political idea I do not agree with into an appreciation of the freedom that created the space for that idea to rise, be expressed, and fall away, with only the love and freedom behind it left in its wake.

We all present ideas hoping they transcend "mere opinion". Please learn to forgive those you don't understand.

Sorry that you are puzzled when I quote the Bible and seem to have such a difficult time with my presence here.

Let me rephrase my #22 post just for you.

Even though violent so-called holy books were created, mankind will someday learn how to allow those ideas to fall away, with only the love and freedom behind them left in their wake.

Mankind is in the process of doing this, thanks to good people like you who do not believe in those bloody, violent stories, like the story of the physical resurrection of Jesus-As-Written.

On what evidence do you draw that conclusion?

Re posts to date:

Crikey...who are 'we' talking about now?

This is another topic or stream of reflection where I am at a loss to know if there is some test of whether or not I am living up to your expectations and you mine. Neither is needed for me. BTW I don't know whose side, except my own, I'm supposed to be on. I don't know how many of my posts are deemed unwanted interruptions nor whether that is more your problem than mine.

IF I provide support to either side, it remains qualified. IF there is no input from me, PLEASE don't read anything into it. I think you are all OK.

A lifetime ago, this 'community' aka R & S caused me stress and sleepless nights. I don't permit suite101 to do it again so I won't get fair dinkum angry or frustrated here knowing some displays of outrage here are intended for the stage.

From time to time, I read bovine melena here which blends wheat and chaff inspiring me to rest awhile.
