Are you mainly refering to the exchange between Brother Jones and the Pink?
.
It goes way, way beyond that.
.
Have you read Charles Saunders Pierce's Pathway To Peace?
.
No; I haven't even heard of it. My two main sources for reading material are the thrift store or my daughter. (I like to mark my books up, and I like to savor them, so I hardly ever use the library). I don't browse at Amazon or Barnes & Noble 'cause it feels too much like being in a candy store with no money. LOL
.
peace and love,

Not the multiple identity thing some used to play to have conversations with themselves.
.
They were fun to read.
.
Aaaahhh! Reddeer, plox et al. Sad to say some of 'em I've forgotten in the absence of a memory jogger.
.
Never fear. I'll toggle your memory switch.
.
I also miss Rainbow, the struggling Phd Polish lady who sure tested my knowledge of Polish-English. Now, there was free-range discussion for you!
.
I remember that discussion and Rainbow too. Rainbow's long unbroken posts were indeed difficult to read and follow. But you stuck to it. When did you learn Polish?

Thanks for that Pinky!
Finding it hard to resist the temptation to submit my opinions to authority, I completely sympathize with the Turtle.
But she must keep going. When she finds opinions and discussions having the power to make her "quite weary of all the accusations and verbal jabs", she needs to recognize that demon and put it to work brewing the tonic that, once sipped, will open her eyes to see that we are all "reasonable, civil adults who respect one another's needs and feelings".
It's only another's IDEAS that are being challenged. IMHO, this is the only way ideas can grow so that we can continue to take our capacity for human reason to the "discovery", Pinky, that you know is coming.

Twas Polish-English I referred to.
Like spoken by my former Polish neighbours. From very early on, I developed a skill to read doctors' handwriting. Later, I developed the patience to understand the mangled English written and spoken where English was not the first language. These are transferrable skills.
Rainbow taught me that the use of English can be more confusing, that some effort is needed to engage in topics she found more interesting than I. So I further increased researching the broader range of subjects online beyond my comfort zone.
And I already knew the greater world extended way beyond the USA but her Polish experiences while completing her doctorate helped me not take my own country for granted.
I am 'undisciplined' in where the questions here take me. A pastime I never had the time for whilst working...too much disciplined research. And if at times you guys don't seem to remember there are at least 3 sides to every coin, my dag slips in. ![]()
Kinda reminds me of a Cabinet Minister I knew who penned the 'shades of grey' principle into very problematic specific law here maybe 30 years ago. 'Black and white' made laws so much easier to make if not comply with. Harder to argue with a shade of grey. But then, the law introduced 'discretion' to ameliorate this.
Just because there is no shade of grey in a rainbow, doesn't mean she's not a pretty colour.
