» HeadZenCards - Asking in Jesus' Name

In response to Asking in Jesus' Name posted by BrianTubbs:

Brian, good old fashioned human logic tells us that a believer will not get whatever they ask for in prayer, not the Bible.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

14:13 And WHATSOEVER ye shall ask in my name, that WILL I DO, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14:14 If ye shall ask ANY THING in my name, I WILL DO IT.

I'm glad you agree that Jesus is not only lying here, but taking his own name in vain.

.
Crooks/Liars blogger John Amato says: "I try to be respectful of other people's faiths, but I have to wonder how fragile one's faith must be if you can't bear to have a television show give alternative viewpoints." (end)

However, this part of scripture is not ~literal~
.
Which of Jesus' ideas should we take literally and which shouldn't we? Who decides this?
.
even the disciples thought the same, as you mentioned..
.
I sure can understand why they would. Jesus' explanation is pretty graphic and gruesome. John 6:66 (note the 666 - wink) - "From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him." No surprise there. How did his remaining disciples decide when and when not to take Jesus seriously?
.
Hope you didn't have trouble with twisters by you. Neat pics. Happy trails and safe travel.

» Migisi - No returns

In response to Jesus-As-Written Was A Jerk posted by HeadZenCards:
.
I ate 'host' every morning at Mass in parochial grade school. The clergy called it 'the breakfast of God's champions'. However, we got no nectar of the god's. That was only for the priest and those of drinking age. So we kids only got half a Jesus.
.
so he won't be back as promised
.
If one takes what Jesus said literally... his second coming already happened. Matt 23:36 "ALL THESE THINGS SHALL COME UPON ~THIS~ GENERATION'. He wasn't talking about the future, but the generation he was currently in. Matt 24:34 "Truly I say to you, THIS GENERATION will not pass away until ALL THESE THINGS TAKE PLACE." Rev. 22:10 - "And he [supposedly Jesus] saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: FOR THE TIME IS AT HAND". Verse 12, he says "And, behold, I come QUICKLY." He repeats in verse 20 - "He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come QUICKLY." Does 'at hand' and 'quickly' mean thousands of years later? No. His followers expected everything to be fulfilled in THEIR life time because Jesus said so.
.
In Matt 24:26, Jesus specifically warns "So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it." Right! Don't believe it!

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

brief explanation: Jesus' deity (spiritual) is now in union with his flesh (as a man) and now has become one... Hence, the God-man...

» HeadZenCards - Roll Up Your Sleeves

In response to No returns posted by Migisi:

Yes, Jesus did come back within the lives of his original followers, but, the way I hear the story, he was kidnapped by the wise people who thought he was a jerk.

He was ransomed back to heaven for some scientific advances, but God fooled them by also sending the plague.

God remains angry to this day. He especially dislikes trailer parks and hospitals, and provides us evidence of that when He sends His tornadoes.

Perhaps He is angry that people in Tornado Country still worship a jerk, according to the same story.

I prefer to think that there is no God and was no Jerk.

It's much easier to accept reality that way, much easier to roll up your sleeves when your hands are not folded in fearful prayer.

Good Lord... our words are meaningless here. This is why I stopped coming here so many years ago because the perpetuated ignorance of those who through out random BS quotes and sayings without any true understanding of something just utterly makes me shiver.
Not to mention how frustrating it is... It's like teaching English grammar to a mentally retarded kid.

Any guesses to who the retarded kid is? hehehe ^^^scroll^^^

Your personal attack on Bo'ner's is not appreciated and goes against Brian's plea to play nice.

You claim to be twice pardoned. Consider yourself thrice pardoned but clean up your act.

right... He's the retarded kid. uh huh

When all that people do it is go in circles it starts to become about them and not what they're saying... I choose to bow out again. Maybe this time it won't be 2 years but I can not hardly stand talking to people that willing choose to defend immorality and go so far as to encourage people to endulge in it.

I could go on a list of sins but that's really not the point... you liberals focus on the 'LAW'... Jesus came to fulfill the law because I in my humanity could not perfect it. HE is the only reason by which I can be seen blameless...

Whatever... it's hogwash to you but the reality is that one day we all shall see and this BS talk we have here will mean nothing anymore. I just don't see why someone would try to take Hope out of the equation for someone who is seeking God.

If your Atheist than just go live and die... we could care less. You have no hope here or there. I choose to hold on to hope.

Adios ya'll
