Every biologist will tell you with certainty that all of life is a chemical reaction. Therefore, the whole idea of a "soul" is a figment of human imagination.

cool.. then we will war for moral absolutes...
grab your gun.. cuz you're gonna need it.

the one with the biggest gun, holds the moral truth - that is - according to "Oliver as Written"...

But, I'm sure they will do their best to ignore the issues.

They will do things like add meaningless posts in order to bury your link. It's called polluting the thread. Our old nemesis, Esoteric_Front, used to specialize in that. Or was that the Jed_shed? Maybe the Thorne?

Amen.

The more they squeal, the better I feel.

The smarter ones get real quiet real quick.

One day, they will disappear. Future human beings will look upon their "god" in the same way we look at Zeus now: Quaint, but the overall result of their followers' lies was too bloody to justify bringing that idea back to civil society.

Is that a discovery?

Alright, Bo'ner's! I don't get what you're saying, but it is nice to see someone make my last post's point.
.
As a True Believer in the LORD GOD, the only one I know (and isn't the path narrow and not so many expected to make it through, certainly not Brian's 2.3 billion) - As that True Believer, are there any children you would NOT kill for the LORD GOD, if he demanded it?
.
Crap, I have to go shopping. Everyone carry on and I will catch up later.

In response to Jesus-As-Written Was A Jerk posted by HeadZenCards:
.
When a person says, "ask anything in my name, and I will do it," what does he mean? Presumably, Jesus means that if you ask for anything, he will do it.
.
Disclaimer:
Jesus said in John 16:26 -- "In that day you will ask in my name. I am NOT saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God."
.
Well well. By his own words, Jesus is NOT an intercessor. He won't put in a good word on your behalf. Well then, why ask for anything in Jesus' name? Why not ask your God directly?
.
"...Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him..." I eat Jesus' flesh and drink his blood - he's in me. Stands to reason that Jesus would have to eat my flesh and drink my blood for me to be in him. Right? This whole cannibalism thing is SO strange.

I'll be honest. Some of these threads have gotten overloaded and too long. I just don't have time to comb through them all. If you feel I'm neglecting a good argument or something, just politely remind me. I'll do my best.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Asking in Jesus' Name

There have been several posts in this thread on asking things in Jesus' name, etc. Asking something in Jesus' name is more than just mouthing those words. If I kneel down and pray: "God, please give me a 50-inch big screen TV -- In Jesus Name I pray and ask, Amen" -- that does NOT mean I've prayed "in Jesus' name."

Remember that one of the Ten Commandments is: Don't take the name of the Lord in vain.

Just throwing God's name around or Jesus' name around (again, I see a distinction only WITHIN the Trinity) isn't what the Bible talks about when it says to pray in Jesus' name.

There's a lot more to it.

» HeadZenCards - Jesus-As-Written Was A Jerk

In response to Jesus-As-Written Was A Jerk posted by Migisi:

That cannibalism thing always gave me the creeps as a kid.

Every couple of weeks it was cracker and grape juice time at the alter. Eat, drink and be merry.

Jesus is fictional jerk, so he won't be back as promised, so we don't have to worry, as I did as a child, that we are but a meal for him.

But think of real live human jerks. What is one of their favorite sayings:

"Eat me!"

This proves nothing, but neither does the Bible.
