You're right. Kids (and adults) act differently in different situations. And scholastic achievement is not necessarily a reliable index in predicting either future success or becoming a happy and well-adjusted adult.

IMHO a focus on spirituality (in the sense of developing a healthy and loving relationship to God, oneself, others, and the rest of existence) provides a good foundation for leading a satisfying and constructive life.
