"...And, it seems to be the article kind of misses the point...."

The article is an selective overview of the research. I'm from the school that reads the research and compares the conclusions. I couldn't track the research itself down.

Hefty research implied...16,000 kids. But how many adults surveyed and what percentages "proved" the points made? How many parents of 4 or more kids etc. Teachers' knowledge?

"...instead of religion having a positive effect on youth, maybe the parents of only the best behaved children feel comfortable in a religious congregation..."

There's probably too many variables to better explore the points you raise, PT.

Back when I was a kid, we marched across town to the Salvation Army citadel and were caned if we misbehaved. The officers were so 'comfortable' about our behaviour, they dozed off in the back. My earliest recollections of the 'rolling eyes syndrome'. happy
