Oliver, first, "signs and wonders" aren't always supernatural, mystical things. The fact that the early church exploded in such growth could be described as a "wonder" and a "sign" of God's blessing.

However, with respect to healings and such...what denomination were you a part of? First, the "signs and wonders" were given to the apostles - NOT to everday believers. I can't and don't perform direct healings or other miracles. I can pray and ask God to do these things, but I can't personally, unilaterally do them - as Peter, John, and the other apostles could. There are many denominations I know that disagree with me, and I think they've caused SERIOUS damage to the Christian community - and your experience is evidence of that.
