Your sister's coffee does not count unless it has actually killed something.

Maybe this is how Jesusists-As-Written justify the "any deadly thing" nonsense.

If they took your sister's coffee and drowned ants in it, it would become a deadly thing. Then a true believer wouldst drink of it, live, and prove Mark's Jesus' words.

But then, there's that word "any".

Any magician worth his salt could convince a crowd of suckers that he drank something deadly and survived. Thus, the carefully controlled and scientific drano challenge, valid only if taken in a neutral setting.
