Have you ever been able to determine what was cut or blacked out? Any chance it could've aided the enemy? Or was it just military paranoia?

Most of the deleted material appears to pertain to where they were, where they were going next, and/or how long they were going to be wherever they were. Some of it, though, seems more like paranoia.

I think folks were supportive of national leaders and their decision to war after Pearl. I think that trust and support ended with Vietnam. Or was it Korea?

My father supported the war, but declared himself a CO (Conscientious Objector); quite a courageous stance in the Vermont of his time. He was willing to do his part, but refused to kill anyone. Instead, he worked on creating and repairing communication systems.

A late friend served in the Korean War. He was very bitter about the experience--said it was a total farce. I've talked to other vets from the Korean "conflict" who mostly agreed with him. My POV is that trust began to erode during our involvement in Korea. The McCarthy witch hunts also contributed to the erosion of trust.
