My answer was aimed more at your implied charge that Christianity preaches an external 'bondage' or coercion. If you're talking spirituality, then the message of Paul is that we escape the bondage of sin and become truly free by making ourselves servants to Christ. Freedom through servanthood is a tough concept for many to accept, but that's what Paul is preaching.
