In response to Excellent Question posted by pink101:The chances are that IF THERE IS A GOD as is proclaimed by so many religionists,
That is just such a sourpuss way getting into the topic. Religionists, whoever they might be, constitute such a small percentage of those who proclaim God that your point is irrelevant.
That we have received this opportunity to experience life gives us reason to believe that if there is a creator, that creater would not create beings to dispose of us in an eternal hell of pain and misery.
You always come back to this problem in your mind with Hell. Why not start a thread on Hell and see if you can get some help on understanding the difficulty of trying to mix light and darkness? I'll jump in and try to help you.
The fairy tale stories of the pie in the sky world as it is portrayed by peddlars of the false hope of a bodily resurrection into a perfect example of this experience are just that--fairy tales.
The Creator--then--is a Giver of pleasure. Anything less that pleasure is brought about by the altenative actions of human beings
No, the story of Jesus is not a fairy tale. It is placed in a certain time, place, and people. If you wish to spend the rest of your life ignoring your sins and that of your associates, then go forth and flee from that reality. The average person knows better and agrees with the idea that we are put on this earth to struggle and to be tempted and tested and to be redeemed and loved. It is not a casual walk in the park with a god who is wondering and worrying about whether we got enough pleasure out of it.
For evidence: review the life of Jesus.

In response to Excellent Question posted by pink101:So, are you beginning to see the answer to your excellent question?
ABC.
I have come to appreciate the good counsel that I got from my mother and father. I intend to stay on the side of God, John the Baptist, Brian, Paper Turtle, Wendell, Kim and Jeff, I think.
Jesus is Lord.
I leave you to Dawkins, Spong, Magisi, and the good Oliver. It is sorta true that you become like the folk you hang with and like the folks you admire and want to think like.
If for some odd reason God plunks me down on the first day in heaven between you, Oliver, and the apostle Paul, I am going to spend the first couple of hours trying to find out why in heck you felt called to oppose the life of Jesus. Oliver isn't such a mystery. But you are. You should have hung in a little longer in the book of Acts standing out on that little hill with the Apostle at the end. Just you and me, and Paul and the devil worshiping whore. I was going somewhere with that but you got antsy and red rover started calling, and you ran off to be with your wild and crazy buddies. lol.

No, not at all. As I have shared with you before, it is not a term associated with anyone or anybody except in my mind with Shakespeare, who used the term frequently, and with some effect.

Lovers in hell will always make hell heaven.
Haters in heaven will always make heaven hell.
Love trumps hell and heaven.

Since you can't seem to quantify any of these components in the above equation, I am going to assume that you believe that love is over for the person who might experience some of it at the end of life.

What keeps you interested in the story of Jesus?
It seems like you would want to join some of your cohorts and spend time discussing anything and everything except the supernatural spiritual realm.
You fit the profile of somebody rather strange a lot more than I do. I'm just your regular down the street neighbor person who goes to church and believes in God, and likes to fellowship.
You, my friend, are the really odd duck.
