My position is that there is no solid evidence that Jesus was dead for three days and that he arose from the dead. So, you are not dismissing the historical value of the New Testament. You are limiting your critique to the resurrection. Is that correct? Not so. Of course, you may be saying that ALL ancient writings are "hearsay." I think quite a few historians would raise their eyebrows at that.
Weasel words here. The only possible basis on which a person can base their belief in the resurrection is faith. If you rephrased to "A person's belief in the resurrection as presented in the Bible ultimately comes down to faith," I would agree with you. To say, however, that the "only possible basis" is "faith" is too extreme a statement. Sorry. Won't fly. Too many people have approached the historicity of Jesus with skepticism and come away as converts for you or anyone to intelligently say that it's "only" about "faith."
