Migisi...you seemta mixa cuppla my quotes. IF Jesus IS what the Bible says He is, my way of thinking means there is no quantum leap to make nor need for 'faith' given that fact.
.
Correct. The ONLY faith one needs to have is that ~everything~ written in the Book is 100% fact, and the whole and absolute truth.
.
I meant Jesus AND the Bible are both worthy of further study.
.
I agree, or I wouldn't be here. happy

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Resurrection then?

In response to Let's clarify posted by pink101:

My position is that there is no solid evidence that Jesus was dead for three days and that he arose from the dead.

So, you are not dismissing the historical value of the New Testament. You are limiting your critique to the resurrection. Is that correct?
All of our evidence is hearsay.

Not so. Of course, you may be saying that ALL ancient writings are "hearsay." I think quite a few historians would raise their eyebrows at that.

None of it is corroborated by any recognized source other than the Bible.

Weasel words here. happy What do you consider a "recognized source"? That's pretty loaded - and you know it. And the word "none" is also rather suspicious. Quite a few facts surrounding the crucifixion and the resurrection accounts are corroborated by nonbiblical sources.

The only possible basis on which a person can base their belief in the resurrection is faith.

If you rephrased to "A person's belief in the resurrection as presented in the Bible ultimately comes down to faith," I would agree with you. To say, however, that the "only possible basis" is "faith" is too extreme a statement. Sorry. Won't fly. Too many people have approached the historicity of Jesus with skepticism and come away as converts for you or anyone to intelligently say that it's "only" about "faith."

Well, then, you and matey can provide us with the evidence.

Asked for so many times before, and none ever presented. Why? Because evidence outside of the Bible does not exist.

Misigi's "Bingo" cheer notwithstanding, this is a false choice. If God chose to reveal Himself, at least in part, through the written word, then trusting the contents of those words is NOT tantamount to placing one's faith in text and not in God. On the contrary, trusting in the written account of God's revelation is (in that sense) consistent with one's trust in God.

There's been quite a bit of evidence presented in the articles, blogs, and in these discussions - by me and others. The fact that you choose to reject or dismiss said evidence is your perogative, but please don't say that the evidence hasn't been shown.

Okay, well you said that I have nothing to offer except coded words and phrases. And I suppose that we should try and define 'nothing,' so that I can grasp what exactly you said. I guess that you mean that my exchanges are without value to you and others. Did the Spirit cause you to say this or did it just come from somewhere inside you that you can affirm is honest and true? Nothing after several years on this site does seem a bit harsh, but go ahead and say it. It might be true. You certainly have some folks who place some value on your faith and opinions. As do I.

i am just an oldtimer for the Lord.
