In response to Fully persuaded posted by paper_turtle:

Your non-biblical God is in the Bible in the same manner that the alphabet is in the Bible.

Both statements are true without the whole truth being approached.

If God is everything, why does it suffer so?

You and I have had this out before.
.
Your problem is one of dishonesy, Ollie. At least, that's so as far as I've been able to figger.
.
You deny the existence of any god; but, you harp on the God of Christianity and of Judaism and you call [Him] God. That's dishonest of you.
.
If you don't like the ideas or the way some Christians think of the one they call God, you should direct your attacks at their beliefs. Instead, you use irony, sardony, and other forms of humorous criticism to try to shake them down. They enjoy your ways as though it proves something to them about evil. Don't you know that?
.
But, what the heck, you aren't going to listen to me--you never have. A long time ago, I told you we could do some good; but, you rejected that and continue with your "looney bin" approach. I have to go now, the guys in the white coats are looking at what I've written so far and they'll probably throw me in solitary for a week.

.
Why does God suffer? or, why does everything suffer?
.
I can only speak for myself here. As I confessed to Phil in the "Identity" post, I've been through a lot in my life. No reason to go into all the details, but I know what physical, and emotional pain is. I know both very well.
.
But I learned: the suffering is optional. I am grateful for every single thing that has happened to me. I would not be who I am, or where I am, if it were not for all those experiences. They were gifts. I have used what these experiences to help others, and to create poems and art work to share with others.
.
I don't claim to know how others feel, or how they view suffering. This is only my answer for myself.
.
The people who hurt me were not evil. They were broken and wounded. They didn't know any better. I have forgiven them, every one of them.
.
peace and love,
Paper Turtle

You no better or no worse than anyone else and that includes Ollie and me.

It wouldn't matter if we tried to discuss the Queen of England, you would try to work the issue back to me and my ego. Let it go and get back on track with an issue or an opinion. I won't bring up prayer again with you.

i am just an oldtimer for the Lord.

Thanks for that thoughtful response.

I meant "Why does everything suffer?" I agree with you that suffering is optional. Attitude is the sugar that turns lemons into lemonade.

True enough. A leaner is still two points in horseshoes, right?

I should use "SCAG" when referring to the LORD GOD (the So-CAlled God) and "JAW" for Jesus-As-Written, but I'd be castigated for that, too, and rightfully so.

I will continue, when I am talking to one who believes in the LORD GOD to use God, not because I believe it in, but in the same manner that one would use the word "unicorn" when talking to a child.

So, you admit that it is a good idea to explain yourself.

That's good.

:)

Otherwise, we end up looking a little schizoid.
