In response to Respect For The Suffering posted by pink101:

I know, I know, I'm sick. I just can't help myself. My dear old grandmother taught me to be a tease more than sixty years ago.
.
God rest her ever loving soul. I'm sure you would have like her--almost everyone did.

Now there is a subject that might get us down the road a little farther.

She sounds like a lotta fun. Did she ever use a bad tone when she got a little riled up with her good friends? In other words, did she have some spunk and spice in her old folk ways? I imagine your grandmother was sorta proud to pass on the tease gene to you, having a little feller to promote into the world of people nudging. My grandmother liked to sit up late with me after I started preaching in my early twenties and she loved to ask questions about Space Aliens, Vampires, and whether we would get to see Satan and maybe poke at him a little with a sharp stick. She was really something. She lived several years past my mother's death, so I got to spend quite a bit of time with her late at night. What a wonderful lady she was.

i am just an oldtimer for the Lord.

Personally, I like you, Brother Jones.
.
But, I think you have an inflated view of who it is that you think you are in comparison to the others around you.

Ever hear of Waterloo?
.
When we get to know ourselves for who we TRULY are, we will find that we are a very likeable person.
.
Getting rid of the subterfuge is a job. Jesus died so we can do that--layer by layer and piece by piece. The old man is a fake.

Well, uh, what if we don't. What if we look around in there and start bumping into depression, guilt, and thinking that our lives didn't count for much. And its the fault of all those priests in the world. Don't you think we should spend a little time Jesus and talk about our troubles?

Do you ever pray to Jesus?

Romans 14:22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Rom. 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

15:2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

15:32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

15:33 Now the GOD OF PEACE be with you all. Amen.

In your mind, is the God of peace in Romans the same thing as the LORD GOD?

The LORD GOD, as you describe him, is the ogre God. He is not the God I have known since I was a child. I know the God of peace, the God of love, the God who does not frighten, kill, or crush anyone. Nor does God condemn to hell.

peace and love,

He/She's in the Bible. Thing is, he's been obscured by doctrine and humankind's desire to have a God just like them--fearful, violent, greedy, ruled by their egoes.
.
He/She is also in the stars, and in the earth, and in each flower, blade of grass, and creature. He is in the face of the loved one and the stranger, the friend and the enemy.

Well, then, you had better start reading what the apostle Paul had to say to Timothy about weak mindedness.
.
You know, what I said about you being sanctimonious applies here to your questions about whether or not I or anyone else prays to any being at all. You ARE infatuated with the front you put out for others to see and you do have an inflated idea of who it is you are, don't you?

Wake up out of your sleep you old coot!

In response to The Over Inflated Jones posted by pink101:

Your thinking is a bit convoluted.

I did push a little hard on prayer but it is a question as whether any liberals here have any dependence on a prayer life. You don't ever write as if prayer is very important. So I simply asked a question about it.

start reading what the apostle Paul had to say to Timothy

A Christian is damned if they do and damned if they don't by liberals like you. You light me up for being in your view an egotist and another lights me up for depending on Jesus as a crutch. Yes, I am a sinner in need of the Lord each day. You are just mimicking and giving hope to your fellow liberals who ridicule the very idea of asking God anything in the name of Jesus Christ.

You are so far from anything that has to do with the Apostle Paul or Jesus that it becomes a joke when you speak of Him.

I can speak much plainer; but, I won't use vulgar language here ever again.
.
You got more B.S. than a brass band--that rabbit who sells batteries on television makes me think of you. You make too much noice trying to convince everyone about what a great and humble Christian you are. Don't worry so much about your image, RC, just be yourself. People will like you for who you are rather than for the persona to try to project. Everytime you make a remark about another person, you only put your own persona in the limelight. In affect, you are saying, "Look how much THAT person falls short of being the humble Christian I am. With all of my sinful ways, at least I'm aware of how much I am in need of Jesus and I go to him in prayer. In fact, I have a special closet in my home that is reserved for just that purpose. Oh, Holy me."
.
Get over it, RC. You no better or no worse than anyone else and that includes Ollie and me.
