speaking of this strange happening.. here is something that happened to me not shortly after...

last Friday, I decided to get my eyes examined again.. So, I called Americas Best and set the appointment. When I went in, the Dr asked when was the last time I was there. I said, not sure.. maybe 5 yrs or so.. He got my paperwork, and low and behold, I showed up 5yrs ago to the DAY...

Now.. what are the odds of that?.. Hmmm..?

I'm not big on filing lawsuits, but if one of my children had died at VTech, you can bet I'd be suing. It wouldn't bring my child back, but it would force the administration to be accountable.

There will be all kinds of law suits. You can put your money on that. What about the law suits that will come against the gun manufacturers? And the lawsuites against the university administration for not sounding a campus wide alarm when they first learned that a murderer was most likely on the loose? Big time! I would not want to be in the hierarchy of Virginia Tech. No way.

Spotting Trouble
More students than ever are arriving on campus with a history of mental illness. How schools are coping with a growing problem.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18202223/sit...
.
"By all accounts, in the last decade the number of students arriving on campuses with a history of mental illness has increased. According to the latest survey conducted in 2005 by the American College Health Association, 4 out of 10 college students reported having "felt so depressed it's difficult to function" during the prior 12 months. One in 10 had "seriously considered suicide." .... "There's been a ratcheting up of the seriousness of the disorders," says Hara Estroff Marano, a contributing editor at Psychology Today who's written widely about campus mental health issues.
.
"... Each year Robert Gallagher, an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh, conducts a survey of university counseling center directors. In his latest survey, done in 2006, 95 percent of center directors reported the number of students who arrive at college who are ~~already taking psychiatric medication~~ has increased in recent years. On average, the number of students being hospitalized for psychological problems has increased, from an average of 5 students per school in 2001 to 8 students per school in 2006.... Out of 154 reported suicides at the colleges in the survey, 127 of the students-or 82 percent-had no contact with the school counseling office prior to taking their life."

In response to Sick kids... posted by Migisi:

During the time I was attending UVM (1966-1968) one of my closest friends had to leave school because of mental problems.
.
While I was finishing my degree (1973-1975) I witnessed one student go into total meltdown, and heard about two other students who left school because of mental problems.
.
One woman dropped (in her mid-thirties) out for the same reason while I was attending Woodbury.
.
BUT I saw many other students who were profoundly depressed and never sought help. I also saw students who should have been suspended because of serious problems with anger management.
.
Sorry-rambling a bit here. My point is, while the problem isn't new, I do believe it is growing in intensity and frequency. Yet another thing we need to closely examine, and take VERY seriously.
.
peace and love,
Paper Turtle

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - It's truly a shame

Ken Ham makes a comment apparently shortly after the VA Tech slayings in which he at least partly attributes the VA Tech slayings to the culture of secularism and naturalism that devalues life. And Migisi (and others presumably here) jump all over him for exploiting the situation to advance his agenda.

But Oliver (HeadZenCards) makes an outlandish claim that Cho is a Christian and associates Cho with the "True Believers in Christ" - and then uses that to condemn religion in general and Christianity in particular. And NO ONE HERE has any problem with that, except for me.

It's truly sad. And, quite frankly, I just don't know what to say.
