And give him a platform?
.
A platform? The nut is dead! How can he be given a platform. My interest is in understanding what there is that drives anyone to such ends. As a responsible citizen, I have a right to know. I want to know what in blazes is going on that any--otherwise--normal appearing human being would commit such an atrocious act of violence.
.
I cannot disconnect my self from the human condition. I am interested in the truth no matter how it hurts. Others can run and hide--not me.
.
But, I understand why people do not want to face these issues and I don't blame them for feeling that way.

My intuition is that his manifesto will only be a lengthy and disjointed justification for his actions. If you want to understand why he did it, IMHO a better place to look would be in his past--in his family life, in his relationships with others, in his experiences in school. You might want to look at all the people who failed to notice all the warning signs, early on, that this young man had taken a turn into darkness.
.
But I don't think you will find why in what he planned as his glory song.

peace and love,

I could never understand what motivated those Columbine shooters or the nut in the Clock tower down in Texas who picked off students on campus.
.
I don't like getting my information through the filter of government officialdom. I don't like the censorship of what's going on in Iraq--I think we need to see the truth as a people. This Blacksburg Event is no minor thing that has little impact on our society. I believe we need a complete investigation into the event and I would like to see the evidence. And, if there is a chance that something is being covered up, I want to have it uncovered.
.
You should not be baffled.

He wanted to kill people, kill himself, and then tell the whole world why he did what he did. Go out in a blaze of indignation and "glory" as he saw it. And, by playing the videotape, NBC did exactly what Cho wanted.

» HeadZenCards - The God Who Was Not There

In response to The God Who Was Not There posted by EvilChihuahua:

If you were all-loving and all-powerful, you would have stopped the shooter. Since you believe in an all-powerful, all-loving god, why didn't he?

You said "When I pray for God to comfort the victims families, I am doing for them, not me." Is your idea of God so garbled that he, as the supreme everything, NEEDS you to demand that he comfort grieving people before he lifts a finger? I didn't think so. So, therefore, you pray to make yourself feel good, unless you think there is a magic telephone that connects your words and the victims families' ears.

Maybe your idea of God needs to be reminded that he screwed up in not stopping one of his own flock from murdering 32 people.

Yes, Cho did relate his experience to what he was taught about both the OT LORD GOD and Jesus in his mailings to NBC news between shootings. Cho seems to have been the proto-typical, "nut-job" christian. But then Jesus taught christians not to judge lest you be judged, so, between you and me, I am the only one who'd better call a Cho a nut.

As a christian, Cho probably asked for forgiveness before blowing his head off and thought he would spend eternity with Jesus. And no christian can make a judgment on this, lest they be judged! This is why I am sticking to protesting christianity here. In a political chat room, I would protest easy access to guns.

Wouldn't it better at this point to ignore this ghost-like god and comfort the child in your neighborhood who has access to guns and perceives himself as being persecuted? Try to get him to relate to a similar circumstance in your life. You could be a life saver.

The idea of God is not a joke. It is a hoax. Many hoaxes have positive effects but on the whole I'd say we are better off without them.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Outrageous

Oliver, shame on you again. It's not enough for you to associate Cho with Christianity in one thread. You have to do it in this one too. I can't stand censorship, but I'm tempted to delete your incoherent, outrageous rant.

For you to make the statement that Cho was a Christian and thus advance your twisted point that religion and/or Christianity is somehow responsible for this terrible tragedy is beyond the pale of reasoned discourse.

And, Pink, there's no excuse for you agreeing with him. Shame on you too!

I hope that the others here (Migisi, Paper Turtle, redback, Wendell, etc., etc.) will join me in condemning this outrage.
