» pink101 - A Coincidence?

.
I think a little research might come up with some very curious information on this VT massacre.
.
Check out these names, Michael W. Kennedy and Cho Seung-Hu, Both graduated from Westfield High School. Both commited gun crimes.
.
What are the odds of such a coincidence?
.

The idea of God is not a joke. It is a hoax. Events like VT, earthquakes, hurricanes and tornados prove it because an all-loving, all-powerful human being would not allow crap like that to happen, so why should we expect less from a God?

Hopefully, my protest is clearer than yadda-yadda-yadda, which was the Pope's reaction to Martin Luther, by the way.

But, yeah he would allow it, Doc. Tragedies are good for God. They keep the believers on their knees begging and worshiping him. Without tragedies, nobody'd pay any attention to him. (wink)

Hee hee. Good one, Oli.

Hmm. Something bad in the Westfield water... or in the curriculum?

Tragedies are good for the priesthood, that's a fact.

Would a real omni-potent God need human beings to worship Her?

I would think that worship from human beings would get to be irritating and a bore.

Almost as boring as heaven, but heaven would bring an additional tragedy: Stuck, sitting around, everyday, singing praises, while billions of souls roast in eternal torment and you can do nothing about it.

No wonder W. C. Fields would rather be in Philadelphia.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - One More Request

I certainly understand that questions and comments are going to be made in this thread that deal with this tragedy from many different angles. I understand that. However, once we start to go down one certain angle or direction to the exclusion or dominance of the others -- then can we start a NEW thread?? Please.

I've already started such a thread for "God and Suffering" or God and Evil. Oliver and Migisi, in particular, I'd like to request that you take your shots at God and people of faith in that thread.

Am I the only one that sees a problem with the fact that a thread set up to reflect on and discuss the terrible tragedy at VA Tech has quickly morphed into a rant against God and religion?

I understand where you're coming from, Brian. My way of "processing" something like this is not anger; my sense is you feel the same. Anger is understandable, but it kind of shuts down any opportunity for shared pondering and reflection.

Really? When I pray for God to comfort the victims families, I am doing for them, not me. I am in no way connected with the victims and their families, so how can I be attemtping to make myself feel good? Praying for them is not worse then doing nothing, playing the blame game is.

Your instinct to stop me because you think I am a bully is a good one.

Hahaha, you never fail to amuse me when you attempt to figure me out. Not even a trained shrink could do that (he gave up in the end). Rest assured, I don't see as a bully, and I'm not out the stop you.

Use it in your neighborhood to calm feuds between the armed and the dangerous,

I should be happy that I live in a qiuet, peaceful neighborhood then.

not to ferret out some idiot like me,

I wouldn't say you're an idiot. Maybe you've been a bit immature in the past, but you're only human.

typing to pass time from millions of miles away.

Why do you think I'm here? Little Johnny Howard has made it harder for people like me to find work (the bastard lives in his own little dream land where all Australians are rich and he's the sexiest man alive), so until I do find work, I need something to do to pass the time, and ranting about things on the internet is a sure-fire way to kill those empty hours.

The idea of God is not a joke. It is a hoax.

It's amazing then, that this "hoax" has done so much good for the world. In fact, it was this "hoax" that brought culture to my blood-drinking, barbaric ancestors.

Events like VT, earthquakes, hurricanes and tornados prove it because an all-loving, all-powerful human being would not allow crap like that to happen, so why should we expect less from a God?

No it doesn't. These are just ideas, opinions if you will, against the existence of God. Evidence would be something more science based.

BTW, why are you only mentioning God here. I mean, where was the all-loving, all-powerful Mother Goddess? Where was Ganesh? Or Odin? Are you only mentioning God here to spite Christians?
