I think there's a difference between free speech and verbal spewing. Imus spews.
.
What about being responsible? What about considering the consequences of one's actions before spewing? What about trying to speak in a way which invites dialogue and promotes understanding, instead of dividing people?
.
If you supported people owning firearms and you knew someone who habitually took his rifle into his backyard at midnight to fire off rounds into the neighbor's windows, would you be talking about the abridgement of his rights if he was arrested for public endangerment?
.
The thing is, the sort of thing Imus does seems dishonest to me. His words say he doesn't much like anyone who isn't a middle class male of his class who agrees with his views. So, if that's how he really feels, why doesn't he just come out and say it, instead of taking verbal pot-shots at people?
.
And, if he believes there is a better way of doing something, why doesn't he use words in a constructive way, to affect positive change, instead of spewing?
.
peace and love,
Paper Turtle
