It's more than a good idea to be able to laugh at oneself.
.
:)
.
I do it often.
.
I want to see if anyone else is familiar with this idea of personification of the Gospel before I proceed. It's quite an interesting subject and it has a great impact on the American psyche.

Not familiar with it, Pink. But why change the original? The Gospel means "Good News." It refers specifically to the "good news" of Jesus' resurrection and what that means for the human race. I will stick with that. I don't see anything possibly bettering it.

Maybe its not a matter of "bettering" it, but of looking at things in a different way to increase understanding.
.
How many parables did Jesus use to *try* to explain the Kingdom of Heaven?

peace and love,

That's all well and good, PT, but we need to be careful that in explaining the Gospel we not change the Gospel. The Gospel again is "Good News." It's news about a specific event and a specific person. I don't think we should lose sight of that.

Literalis can be very limiting.

The idea of the Gospel being a mother of daughters is, of course, an analogy.
.
Think about it a little. Maybe you can come up with something.

Who said anything about *changing* it? I repeat my question: how many parables did Jesus use to try to explain the kingdon of heaven? Did any of those parables change the truth about what the kingdom of heaven actually was?
.
Personifying the gospel is one way of explaining what the Good News implies about personal behavior. Does that change the Good News?
.
Seems to me you're advocating on behalf of tradition, Brian. (wink) happy

This is a terrific concept. It is a beautiful story. It can bring tears to your eyes.
.
We need to bring in the ideas the Frenchman, Édouard René de Laboulaye, had of America when he wrote his three volume history of America.
.
HE, is the one from whom I first heard of the idea of the Personification of the Gospel.
.
I'm sure Brian will be reminded of this great Frenchman to whom the world and we Americans in particular are so deeply indebted.
He had a great respect for Abraham Lincoln among other things, huh, Brian?
