This issue has been discussed before--just recently again with Simon as you probably recall.

In order for discussions to be viable it is often the case that certain tangents are entertained for a few posts or so. But, then, we get back to the topic at hand.

I'm reading Fischer's Liberty and Freedom book in which he discusses the events leading up to the creation and installation of the Statue of Liberty in the Manhattan Harbor. The progenitor of the idea is a Frenchman by the name of Edourd Rene' Lefebere Laboulaye. The chapter, NEW VISIONS OF UNIVERSAL FREEDOM, begins with a quote from Laboulaye, "The Gospel's daugher, the sister of Justice and Mercy, the mother of Equality, Abundance and Peace".

There is a definite effort put forth in society by strong forces that seem bent of controlling the hearts and minds of the American electorate. It is repugnant to Liberty that they want to keep people from thinking in ways that expands the common understanding of such concepts as the Gospel. Making fun of Justice and Mercy is an example of how stupid we have been made to be by our handlers.

America is in trouble--SHE is sinking fast. And SHE needs our help. The problem goes way beyond our religious differences for those who have a mind to think.

Anyway...it's already Good Friday here and perhaps I should be offline.

I suppose we call it Good Friday because of what Jesus did. If He didn't do it then we are just foolin ourselves with thinking that faith in Him is important or more than a silly joke. The world turns on whether He came up from the grave or whether some liberals are correct when they say that it's all figurative and non-literal, and soft history.

I was sitting in the doctor's office next door. I'm REALLY sick. Seems I fractured my own rib during one of my coughing fits. Hurts bad. Hard to breathe without pain. Dare not laugh. Drugs make me sleepy. Right about now, I'd love to have one of Brian's 'bad days'. (wink)

I agree with Pink. Tangents are inevitable, but we should strive to get back on topic - the central topic of that thread - as soon as possible. I'm certainly not chiding anyone or trying to come off as condescending. I'm as guilty as anyone. So, I hope my comments weren't taken the wrong way.

Anyway, I probably won't be around much the next 2-3 days. Easter weekend - obviously a busy time for a church pastor.
