» pink101 - Great Issue, Brian!

.
This is a very important issue, Brian.
.
I remember--as a youngster--that movies were "Dens of Iniquity" and the "Devil's Tool" to trap people into a life of degradation. Any chuirch member or attendee seen standing in a movie line to buy a ticket was in jeopardy of being put out of fellowship. (A polite word for excommunication.) If you wanted to experience guilt in those days, all you had to do was to sneak into a movie theatre. Woohoo! What a terrible sinful thing to do.
.
The link you gave ends with this line: "'Let's face it, movies are our modern-day parables,' the statement said."
.
Therein is the kicker that literalists never seem to be able to grasp. The message goes deep into their minds; but, on the surface, it goes right over their heads. IMO, to be a literalist is to be just plain stupid. It's how you get snowballed.
.
Jesus made the point, loud and clear, regarding parables. And, Evangelicals still don't get it.
