In response to Biblical Teachings on Heaven and Hell posted by BrianTubbs:

It doesn't matter what Brian Tubbs says about Hell - except for you to have a target to shoot at. When people ask me to describe hell or heaven, I point to the Bible. Who am I to authoritatively describe places I have not yet been to?

.
But Brian, with all due respect:
.
You have been so very adamant about the existence of Hell, while others (who have also read their Bibles) are quite certain there is no hell.
.
If the situation were reversed, its highly likely *you* would be asking for substantiation.
.
Since *you* are the one with strong objections, what you believe *does* matter.
.
And, since we've all read the same book yet come to different conclusions, we need to see what led you to your conclusions.

Fair is fair.

» pink101 - A Problem With Jesus

In response to Biblical Teachings on Heaven and Hell posted by BrianTubbs:
.
"...your problem is with Jesus - not me."
.
How many times have I heard this projection in my life?
.
My problem is not with Jesus as my beliefs of reality come about through my acceptance of what Jesus teaches me about reality.
.
I don't see myself here as the one with the problem; but, I see the problem exists with Evangelicalism's sad teachings of guilt about the choices regarding Hell and Heaven and the idea that humans deserve to spend eternity in Hell.
.
It's common to see the squirm when the light is brought to bear on the twisted teachings of the priesthood that--so desparately wants to speak on God's behalf to people looking for answers regarding the meaning of their life. That's what they did when Jesus came against them.
.
See Luke 11:37-54
.
Jesus DID come against the priesthood. Like it or not.

I don't get that at all from Brian. In fact, he seems to be saying that Hell is a somewhat mysterious and a complicated issue. Brian seems to advise us to carefully take note of the words of Jesus concerning whatever hell is. Maybe the others that you are talking about do not actually believe that Jesus said anything about the topic.

Is that possible?

Thanx for your thoughts, Migisi and Brother-jones. I'm feeling pretty ordinary at the moment so will sit on the side rails.

Good to see you in good spirits. You aren't on the sidelines, but have actually had a life experience more than just the talk that you see here today. Let us know about the small, medium, or large miracles that God brings into your life during this time of battle with cancer. I believe that He leans over and puts on His better glasses and watches us very closely when we get into the type of scrape you just went through.

Now, there's a squirm if I ever saw one. The point here, Brother Jones, is not what someone believes or doesn't believe; but, it is about what is taught by the priesthood in popular churches around the world.

Well, you are the expert in that area. I just would like some commentary on what Jesus said, which you folks so very often overlook.

Pinky, I do realize that this is a lifelong pursuit for you and you have given an incredible amount of attention, time, and posting to what Jesus stood against.

You seem to never post on anything that Jesus actually stood for. It most always is in the negative, and it makes me very sad. By my reckoning your posts about what Jesus stood against are about 94% percent of everytime you post, and I am trying to be liberal with the figure since I have had a chance to edit this post.. Is there some reason that you can give for always coming back to the same idea of yours that Jesus was against the priests, and rarely ever, even on a bright sunshine day, talking about the good stuff on Christ.

That's my entire point, Brother Jones. When Jesus raled against the priesthood, that was a 100% positive action on his part. What's your problem?

That is incredibly unfair to the story of the bible, my friend. You use this line of thinking as your license to kill off all the characters of the Old Testament and most all the apostles and disciples of the New Testament. It is shoddy work to try and convince family and friends that this is the only thing in the world that Jesus stood for or against.

But I again, I empasize that your whole deal on Jesus is just one big negative campaign. That is what you do and what you have done for years. I don't expect you to search the areas of Jesus' life that might challenge your thinking. But there is always hope in the world that you might change one day.
